So did I, from day 1 - even when we were accused of cheating by top name people and tuners (LOL) 10.50s are possible with stock 620/625 kit and DCT. We are def. road course guys tho, but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything.

Nice work 1SICKM!! I had fun today teasing Klevis (my tech who who drove our car) - he thought he was going to hold the 'record' for over a year - hahahaha. Prior to hearing this news, we planned on hitting Atco this weekend but the weather may not cooperate. Looks like he may have to sulk for a few months

Congrats guys, that's some impressive times and traps!!

Can anyone please tell me which DRs(brand, model and size) should I get for my M3 with VT1-535 and manual tranny, I want to buy a set of wheels and tires to have fun at the drag strip next summer but I don't know anything about drag radials, always had AWD cars before my M3, thanks in advance!

Mike is it possible to hit a 10.5 with full weight ? Meaning no race seats .

You guys being road course and mechanical guys simply means you know how to perfectly setup a car for any event to achieve a solid time .

I'd run my street tires - 315's in the rear... thoughts?
I'm not a big fan of drag racing cause the stress and the beat the car takes. Also launching a 6MT could hurt your axles, diff and tranny if the car hooks and def breaking something if you get any wheel hop.
Stick to road course, its much better and require talent

Not necessarily true I went down the strip 55 times with my 6mt when I was 625 ! You need a lot more torque to consider it high risk for damaging something.

All you need it sticky tires and an easy launch at 4k and you'll be fine heck you can achieve a good time with a 6mt since you can do a stand still burn out and heat the tires up nicely as well.
If you feel a wheel hope coming
On ease off and ride it through , it takes a lot more practice and experience then one would think ! Not as easy as it looks......
Heck I was short shifting 1st at 5k into 2nd and short shifting 2nd at 7k into 3rd to avoid wheel spin and I still was hitting 10.9's .
Road course does require more skill but dragging requires skill as well .

If I were you I would drag my car just to see what my traps are..

You did 55 passes with no issues cause you weren't getting traction in any of the runs cause you are making too much power. I've seen 2 bone stock M3s breaking there Diff bolts and bending diff carrier cause they hooked and wheel hopped.
When you get wheel hop its done, before you know your main diff bolt is broken and you are writting a check for 10K to get it fixed.

Izzy has a point but different strokes for different folks. I'd rather take the chance at blowing my rear than going off the track on a road course. I can say with confidence that these cars can take the wheel hop and abuse at the strip better than most. I've dragged my car nearly 300 times this year all using launch control and no issues. If you go to the strip PLEASe go properly setup with R compound tires or DR's. Not only will you turn significantly better times (over 1/2 sec ET) but its safer for you and the car next to you. I refuse to race a high HP car next to me on street tires on the strip. There isn't much room to go after they bounce off the wall and into you!

Your more likely to experience wheel hop with a DCT than a MT , I didn't experience any with mine ....
Scott did you?

With average to poor track prep at Island Dragway, I got wheel hop many times. I learned to stop going to the strip on Friday nights and only go on the weekend or private events when the big boys run because they prep much better. Most strips dont prep well for their "open" night events.

I did a lot of drag with my manuel VT1-535 and it seems like the less traction I had, the more wheel hop I had, as soon as I started burning my 295s AD08 before each run, I did'nt experience any hop anymore, one of the reason I want DRs, but the main reason is to get in the 11s!

What do you guys think of Nittos 555R DR in 285/40/18, I know some of you say MTs are better but they only do 265s for the M3!?

The MT's in 265 are all u need. That's what VAC used last yr and set the record. I ran the Nittos 285/40 and they measure a little tall so I've been unable to get my 60ft in the 1.6x range like VAC did but I still broke the record with them MT are the best tire period. I didn't have a clean run when I ran the 10.6 this week so I know more can be had with better tires
