This is exactly what I'm saying. There is barely anything here to call special at all. If there were some special performance parts, weights savings, or something out of the ordinary I might care.

You know there will be 200 idiots lined up to buy this thing in a heartbeat. Shows you who cares more about looks rather than performance.

It's really tough in the US to offer anything special bc of the need to crash test for different seats, the need for EPA for different engine etc. BMW is at the mercy of those things and if they offered 200 of these at $125,000 with different seats how many people would buy it?

There are no plug and play brakes for the E92 for fitment that I am aware of from the factory (GTS brakes aren't). Can't do the CRT hood (crash testing) so what can be done? Limited editions like this.

Out of all of them this is by far the most enthusiast oriented- it is in not a single package with no options this can be built as you'd like and it comes with all the M Performance parts from the factory- the exhaust is almost $5k installed, add the install and parts of the rest of the stuff and this is actually a value and it is Factory.

I agree its a decent value, at least on the premise they go for MSRP...But you know dealers are out there writing up their "inflated" LRP/Limited Edition, etc.. addendum's as we speak

BMW has a long associsation with Lime Rock. They are a major sponsor and provide the Lime Rock Pace Cars and the cars that are driven by the staff.

This car is almost as customizable as any that you can order from a dealer.

Alas, it has no plaque. So, again, you can build this car verbatim from BMW for just about the same price.

Yeah...pretty lame. However, if it were called the Mid Ohio Edition we might be talking about a whole different story.

As mentioned you can just build one yourself and then get yourself a plaque made - 201 of 200!:

If you take a base E92 M3 price of $60,100 (excl sales tax, destination and gas guzzler tax), Individual paint $5,000, Competition pack $2,500, Carbon leather trim $500, carbon front lips $750, carbon rear spoiler $550, M Performance exhaust $4,000, so far we're at $73K. So as a package its a little cheaper, but you could likely negotiate a better deal on an individually specced car than 1 of 200.

Expect to see another special edition before the year is over though.
Lime Rock is BMWNA's "home track"- They are a huge sponsor there and have a storied history as well.

Add in the install for all those parts- makes it even more if you DIY.

I'm not so sure you will be seeing anything better than this one though...

I guess I knew that, I made a maiden voyage to Lime Rock for my first trip in my current car and took pics in front of the welcome banner. What I want to understand is the association with orange and Lime Rock, is there one?
It's a hunch that there will be more than one special edition, not necessarily a better package, just something different. Personally I'd like this to be a Mid-Ohio edition and I'd have to commemorate my first CCA Oktoberfest with it! (white please, contrasting stitching and other doodads they put on the LRE.

Well, to give you some info, the only reason I have a 128i is because I'm back in school for my masters degree and I wanted a trouble free car during this time. I paid for it cash by the way.

Also, this is my sixth BMW and once I finish my masters next April I will be in the market for a $50-$60K car, so I'm definitely not upset AT ALL.

I'll probably just get a used 997 instead of anything that BMW is currently offering.
