E90 euro and E92 us what's the difference?
coupe is ligther
2 more doors on sedan rear bumper and tail lights are different no CF sedan is not a real M3 I know I know What are the real deal? I just traded in my 11 E90 DCT ( EURO ) to a 11 E92 DCT ( US model ) Here are the things that I find different ugly airbag warning sunshade headlight has amber bulbs (can be coded and look almost the same as euro) amber signal corners on front bumper the dialogue gauge is ml/h and F passenger side mirror has letters objects in the mirror, blah. rear signal lights are red instead of yellowish. US wiper has a electric motor noise, quite annoying. Euro has almost no sound. frameless windows coupe cause a bit more wind noise 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 stereo area has two more buttons. there is an M3 badge under the hood anyone knows more please chime in! 1. Is there a way to temporarily disable the alarm so I can park my car at towers? 2. The wiper electric motor noise/sound, is this normal? or all E92 has this? it's very annoying! 3. Can the driver's seat automatic lean backward so driver can enter the car more easily? I only see " return to driver's last seat position " 4. Does all E92 M3 fires up in S1 instead of D1? makes no sense for me to drive away with high RPM on 1st. 5. Too bad it doesn't have a P button, ( parking assist ) I liked when I can turn it on and off. There's no sensor in the front. I heard this can be retrofitted and iDrive will appear the colour graphs. So far I enjoy the ZCP very much. More comfortable ride than none EDC M3. -10mm looks better. The EPS, extended leather and heated seats are nice.

So let me get this right.... You are asking for 2 different things.
Differences between E92 vs E90 and Euro Spec vs US Spec? All have been discussed many times and there is a nice write upthat Kevin did on ECE vs US Spec cars..... I will try to find the link.

Lots of moving pieces here, the most significant btw euro and us would be the mdm setting. Everything else is minor cosmetic or legal bumper and emissions parts differences.
Also, for 18 inch wheels, for the most part , euro cars got 260m wheels, us got 219m |

I had a C63 when I was in Cali. Now I am working in Asia for a few years. I had an 11 E90 M3 euro spec. Now I traded it in for an 11 E92 M3 from states. Hope this clear things up a bit. Out of curiosity, this e92 starts up in S1, wiper has a bothering noise ( mechanical ) and a few minor exterior/interior difference. I know the emissions are different but is it slower by any meaning? Exhaust cats or due to mapping? 414 ps vs 419.xx hp Anyone? Thanks!

Two more differences that I know of:
1. seats differ in the lower area (US model is like standard E9x). 2. among the different codings, US model is adapted to lesser fuel and has more restrictive M dynamic mode (only if you have the M button, which it seems is not the case). And yes, US models start in S3 while EU start in D2 (numbers mean setting, not gear). That is not a coding thing, car has to be reprogrammed to have that changed. As far as I know, there is no coding possibility to change this (I have a EU-spec E92 and would like D3 at start).

2. I don't quite understand lesser fuel means. Yes I have a M button. I will ask my local coding/programming guys on the start up. I agree with you starting up in D3 would be perfect.

I see. This lower part of the seat, is it the materials our butt sits or it is a whole assembly? I can't really recall since my E90 euro is already different than E92 US.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ght=euro+vs+us Great info here on the MDM and the S and D start differ. Hope I can get it programmed soon.

Yup, as I said. Mike seems to flash the DCT to Euro spec, so it starts in D2.
As for the seats: it is the whole assembly, it looks totally different: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=576041

Wow, I am surprised! I just realise this now! I think the leather on the Euro are a bit better too. Or this is all in my mind?
Anyway, noticeable exterior/interior difference exterior: headlight corner amber ( can be switched off but can be seen as Euro or US ) reflector on front bumper front bumper is slightly different? rear signal light is red interior: front seats E90, E92 stereo buttons am/fm, mode ( options I think ) sun visor compartment storage underneath the light switch armrest storage is smaller than my E90 Euro instrument cluster P button for PDC trunk area is different sos button airbag indicator Besides all these stuff, Is there any difference in the mechanical, engine, drivetrain, gear box, and exhaust? For the software, iDrive, M DCT, and MDM. These can all be flashed, coded to Euro spec correct? Lastly, I assume the US and the Euro specs drive exactly the same and has same amount of power. Personally, I would want my car starts at D2 instead of S3, get rid of the headlight amber light, want the more fun MDM, and folds my mirrors when I hold the lock button. My US E92 doesn't have the rough cold start idle from 600 ~ 1100rpm. My E90 had this it was super annoying!

Here you go... A detailed thread on US vs Euro differences.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229733 Above thread also covers the seats... Except couple of software settings there is no major difference on the performance. PS: As far as the wipers are concerned, it must be your car itself. Mine never made any noise.

After a week of driving the US E92. US and Euro has exact same engine, transmission, drivetrain, exhaust. The only difference is SOFTWARE? ( besides the minor interior/exterior parts ) Are the emissions controlled by DME? 414 vs 420 is metric horsepower against mechanical horsepower makes sense. But what is the real deal here? Lastly, I forgot whether US models has MDM available in the M drive settings?
I had my car coded/flashed. 2011 US spec E92 M3 MDCT ZCP MDCT euro iDrive euro MDM euro DME US latest version I am confused!

euro-MDM setting itself is not distinguishable on the idrive screen. It'll still say MDM, it won't say Euro-MDM on your idrive screen. To select MDM on an I-drive car, you need to have it defaulted on under the M-Settings in the i-drive. MDM is activated when you then hit the M button. 2008 models, some cars did not have M button (MDrive option not purchased), therefore those cars did not have MDM selection. Recently, we found out MDM can then be coded back into these cars. |
