post up some pics of your insane M3. Interlagos Blue is a sexy color and i wish i had that. Unfortunately in Brunei, there isn't much choice of colors since there are only 2 E9x M3s in town. sigh!

Pictures
I successfully picked up my new car last Friday. and have been too busy driving to post any pictures.
The car definitely exceeded my expectations. I traded in a 2006 G35 Coupe (MT) which I enjoyed but always felt that the car fell just short of my expectations and hopes. My 2009 M3 is just plain awesome!! The balance and handling is so good it borders on sensual. When aggressively cornering in my G35, the car always felt reluctant to be pushed. Even with snow tires, the M3 is almost evil in the way it urges me to push a little harder. Furthermore, the M3 engine is world-class compared with the G35. The G35 is a workhorse engine and very good in its own right. Even babying my M3’s new engine, the M3 engine is unbelievable and I'm enticed by the siren's call to 8,500 RPM. I’m counting the miles until my break-in period is done and I can start to explore the real depths of the engine. The DCT is a little strange and definitely is taking a little work to adapt to its “thinking”. In the Sequential Mode, the transmission is stunning and the shift speed is unreal. As I have tried to explain to family and friends, it's not an automatic transmission but rather an automatic clutch. The DCT shines in S-Mode and borders on fantastic. In the Automatic Mode, the transmission has its quirks to put it kindly. I know lots has been said about the “lag” but left to its own devices, the DCT doesn’t seem to want to down-shift quick enough and as often as not it isn’t in the right gear if I’m decelerating to take a turn and “lags” when asked to accelerate after the turn. While I hope BMW figures out a fix in the DCT Auto Mode logic, I am extremely happy to have the DCT because of its other spectacular attributes. I have only a couple days with the car and only 600 miles and I cannot wait to drive it again. BMW should be congratulated for making such a great car. The car is like a great wine or scotch or orchestra with each aspect balanced with respect for the final whole. I’m very aware that I haven’t even come close to understanding the brilliance of the car but I’m excited and feel privileged to have the opportunity to do so. |

I shared your experience. There was a couple of used cars being delivered at the same time as I picked up the M3. I felt bad for the other customers because the shiny new M3 was stealing all the attention. One of the cars was being purchased by a father for his son (2004 ? Audi A4) and the kid kept drooling over the M3. I cannot blame him because I was drooling next to him.

I have a soft spot in my heart for 2002 and your's looked great. My 2002 originally came out of Portland, OR in 1971. It didn't have the fancy sun-roof. It was my mother's first new car which she kept until 1987 when I bought it from her to restore. As much fun as my M3 is, it will take a while before it surpasses my love for my 2002.

Car looks great!
I also have a soft spot as well for the 2002. Especially the one my mother used to have. An absolutely gorgeous car that I wish I could get one day and restore |
