American Racing Longtube Header Results
I called up Nick at ARH and after a short conversation they were on there way to me. Nick was quick and responsive and I received the headers in less than a week! Ever since I clicked off the record breaking time last year of 10.4 @ 135 in my stock motor ESS Supercharged DCT M3, I've been on a quest to extract a little bit more out of the car. After I had seen what they did on IMG's car I knew I needed to get my hands on a set despite all the naysayers.
I received them and put the car on the dyno at 6 pm. I took the car off the dyno and by the time it was 12 am the headers were on. Installation wasn't too bad. It required dropping the subframe down so that it could hang while working on removing the old headers. In total about 6-8 hours on a lift depending on mechanical ability. -Undo each pair of suspension arms off each side of the subframe -Unbolt steering shaft -Unbolt steering rack -Unbolt sway bars -Lower subframe and let it hang. Fitment was perfect on the headers and I had zero issues (with the exception of maybe 2 bolts/nuts with tight access). I reused all the stock hardware and gaskets. I used a tiny bit of rtv to hold the individual gaskets up while I mounted the longtubes. The headers also came with 02 sensor extensions. The car went back on the dyno at 10 am the next morning. The gains we saw were impressive. It picked up +33 whp and +21 ft lbs of torque over stock headers, cat-less ti xpipe, and vaguard ti exhaust. The car feels like a beast on the street. I could definitely notice a seat of the pants gain. The s65's high strung characteristics felt and sounded amplified. It just sounded more tenacious without much added volume. Here are some pictures. The numbers are low because it was on a very low reading mustang dyno (lower than a typical mustang dyno). A dyno should only be used as a tool anyhow to measure gains. I'd like to thank Nick and the guys at American Racing for bringing this product to the market at a very competitive price point. I hope I can get out there soon for a personal best. I think the car has a lot more in it. Baseline: After: Idle Rev up : This is what I baselined the car with. Its a custom Ti X-Pipe: Sexy ARH headers: Fitment was excellent: Graph of gains throughout the power band:

That is awesome! I wonder what's going on in the head of bimmerworld engineers charging a few more for headers making less power.
Please tell me you have videos maybe a before and after sound?? Edit I wonder if moving the x pipe a little further back like the MRF style one would increase power?

M33too, huge thanks for sharing your experience and results with fellow members. I really would love to see your results from your next trip to the track. Let me know when you plan to go. We'd like to get a video of you resetting that track record. Those kind of gains may get you 2 more MPH and into the 10 teens if it hooks. Best of luck and thank you.

I just posted the vids. Sounds amazing. Definitely better. The idle ticking was also reduced at idle.

Damn, awesome. Can't wait to see results on an NA car.
Is that primary O2 bung getting a read on all 4 or is it going to only get signal from a couple of cylinders? Can't tell where the merge ends from outside the header obviously
