iPhone 6 -> CCC Options
Hello forum,
I've seen a bunch of threads on this in the past, but haven't really found a solution I like. I just recently got a 2008 M3 with Premium audio + iDrive (CCC, the old one). I also have an iPhone 6. I'm currently "integrating" it via bluetooth (phone only), and a 2-cable setup: - Standard apple lightning<->USB cable - a standard 3.5mm audio cable for audio. It sounds fantastic through the Premium Audio system, and generally things work well. Ideally I'd prefer - a one-cable solution (just plug into the lightning port on the iPhone), and - better audio integration (track name/display, next/previous track buttons on the steering wheel, etc). - But I want to keep the high quality audio I already have. I bought a lightning <-> 30 pin adapter, and used that with a Y cable, but the audio quality is terrible. Maybe there's some trick to these -- I'm not an audiophile, but it was very bad. I've looked at the bluetooth solutions (same audio quality problems), and the airplay solution looked pretty cumbersome (have to do a bunch of selection each time in the iPhone -- by time I do all of that, I might as well plug in a cable) I was thinking that maybe there was a USB solution, basically a "USB Y-cable", which had a DAC, etc? What's the state of the art these days for people with newer phones and older CCC systems? Thanks for the feedback. |

Never used an apple in the car even though they are made for it.. but I use something like this: http://www.amazon.ca/Wireless-Blueto...ipod+bluetooth
with the Y cable.. bluetooth thru my S6, auto connects, plays anything and everything through the phone. Easiest solution I found. |

Yes I just installed one of them for Member Raek on sunday.
Yes you plug in just using the lightning cable and it charges and you can browse through all of your music collection using that one cable with no adapters etc. It also gives album art which no other setup does |

Make sure you turn on "sound check" on your iPhone. Go to settings-music-sound check. If you don't your phones equalizer and your cars equalizer will clash and sound horrible

This is what I use with my CCC. It works just like you'd expect a factory cable to work.

I'm travelling the same road my good man, (2008 e90 M3) if you want to use anything newer than and iPhone 4(anything with the lightning adaptor) through the iDrive you need the CIC retrofit. I have that cable and it's a no go. unless I'm completely missing something but I've been through all the forms and visited mutiple sites. all give me the same answer. |

unless you're rocking a e92 lci or newer. (there is a table on the right side of the page that breaks down the cables and differences.) of course if someone knows something I don't I'm all ears. but trying to save you the 70$ and the anticipation it might work. |

I'd love to see photo's of this working. I've tried pretty much every cable with no luck duplicating the kind of results you are seeing. Not on an Iphone 5S. No problem on a 30 pin connector. But never on the lightning adaptor.
