EBC Yellowstuff Pads?
Hi,
I just noticed that EBC Yellowstuff pads seem to be available now for the E90 M3. Has anyone tried these yet? If they are reasonable on the track, they are a steal at about $200 per full set compared to the Pagids.

I'd recommend Carbotech Brackes... www.ctbrakes.com
Don't know the pricing exactly... but definitely one of the best pads out there... no squealing, and easy on rotors.. but phenomenal braking ability. Dave

XP12 is not easy on the rotors, but that's to be expected. I think they are about $350 for a F/R set. Tell them you are a BMWCCA member, and you'll get a small discount.

The only issue i've had trying Xp16s (on E46) was that they were a PITA to bed. Not compatible with semi-metallic stock pads. Lots of juddering and deposits as a result.

Wow, XP-16!! I am not sure you need anything harder than the XP-12. I did not have brake issues with the XP-10 at all. They lasted 5 half days on the front and about 10 half days at the rear. (my half days are about 4x20min on track) They do squeal a lot!!

VZ,
MAM is not a busy track. Most of the time there are no sessions at all. Only 5-6 guys and open lapping the whole day. So you go out whenever you want to and stay as much out as you want. If they have school, once a month, or some open wheel cars, we do 20 min sessions. Starting at 9 am you can do at least 4 sessions in a half day which is up to 1:00pm. Unfortunately I cannot stay after 1:00 pm, I have busy clinic in the afternoon. (The hospital is just 15min from the track.) However for break and now due to PS fluid cooling issues I limit myself to 20 min (sometimes 25min) sessions all the time. So for me half a day is 4x20 min. |

Boy you guys do not get much track time at your days! Most of the days that I go to are 1/2 hour on 1/2 hour off with later in the afternoon being open sessions so you end up with 3.1/2 hour days.Even the crowded days with 20 minute sessions you end up with 2.5 hours of tracktime.Even calabogie only runs 2 groups and you get 7 sessions of 25 minutes.Maybe that is why I use so many tires compared to guys

Yep, most of the HPDE events run 4 sessions per run group. Run groups are Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advance, and Instructor. So you can easily do the math and see why track time is 20 to 25 min each, with a 1 hour break at lunch. Sunday, the break 11- 12noon is considered "quiet time" due to churches in the area.

How were they on the street? They seem to be one of the better pads for someone who does mostly street driving. I am looking for a street replacement I can do track days with. Have race pads/wheels for heavier track use.

Go for Ferodo DS2500, in that case. Best hybrid pad around. A quick search on this site should show you overwhelming support for their dual-duty.
