Convince me why I should get an M3
Pretty simple, pretend you\'re trying to sell me the E9x M3 and I\'m in the market for a performance car. Convince me why I should chose the M3 over say Porsche or Mercedes.
P.S. I\'m going to test drive several cars and brands tomorrow and will be ultimately leasing one of them. I own an X5M so know what the ///M is and have also driven the E92 M3 twice before. |

+1. Go for the Porsche, Audi or Mercedes.
BMW hasn't done enough to deserve business in the enthusiast market if you are looking for something more upscale or with a more serious engine than the 1M. If we all speak with our wallets, BMW will realize the enthusiast market is bigger than the 1% or whatever everyone always acts like it is... and give us something to chew on this side of the next gen M3 here in the United States. |

Still trying to balance it out after CSCO killed me months ago. But my puts and inverses have made richer last week and recently. I'll see what I like best tomorrow and will write about it though. I'll be the first at their dealership tomorrow at 9:00 am! I'm going to Plaza Motors and they have all the luxury brands like Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Range Rover, Cadillac and now even Fisker Karma. Their SA's scare the shit out of me though. Last time I went one of them was chasing down a man and a woman who were angrily leaving the dealership. He got all up in their car and everything.

Here are the options I suggest you choose over the M3, assuming they are within your budget of course.
Mercedes: 2012 C 63, or 2012 CLS 63, or 2012 E 63 Audi: R8 Porsche: Anything that tickles your fancy, they are all amazing IMHO. Or you could wait for the new M5. Last edited by HBspeed; 07-31-2011 at 06:05 PM.. |

Downside is many like myself would say it's too heavy and soft. I would describe it as a beast of an engine caged in a cushy padded cell. If you prize comfort and luxury over pure sportiness then the E9X M3 is a good choice. |

If you need someone to convince you here to get a M3, maybe it is not for you. As for C63, power is there, the jury is out on how it will handle, and looks are "ok" IMO, not a fan of the rear....looks like a Honda Accord. CLS 63 is BAD ASS, but nothing like the M, more like a 5 Series/M5. Closest car would be a 996/997, if you can find a good deal on it.
The M is a "driving" car, handles AMAZINGLY, and huge aftermarket support. If you like to "drive", care about modding/huge aftermarket support/community....Go with the M. If you do not plan to mod, not big on the aftermaket parts, just want to haul ass in style, AMG, Porsche, Audi, or any equivalent. Good Luck in your search. |

You own a X5M and you have to ask.........C'mon man!!! Take a test drive in a preowned car so you can drive it and then report your findings to us...........Phil

If the car itself doesn't convince you then we shouldn't try to either... our opinions won't make you happy after you buy the car. If the car doesn't speak to you, get a different one that does.
Having said that... get the M3 You will be happy.

I'm sure any of the cars you pick will put a grin on your face anytime you get in. My recommendation is to ignore us and test drive each of the cars and pick the one you like the most.
Oh, and I would recommend a 911 GTS (the RWD one). Last edited by sawzall; 08-01-2011 at 11:36 AM.. |

Yea, I don't like the C63 because of its craziness and the only Benz I'd consider would be the CLS63. I saw one at their dealership in white and I'll definitely be test driving the shit out of that tomorrow. I'll also try out the 911 GTS and C4, and the M3. Should be a fun day!
