very small oil leak under the transmission...

Hi Folks - I have a 2011 E92 and while getting my Akra Evo installed (which is awesome BTW, I'll post a review soon) - we noticed a very tiny oil leak in the transmission oil pan (sorry I dont know the specific name here) .. but basically at the bottom of the tranny under the black cover... its a very slight leak .. but a leak nontheless.

question is - has anyone had a similar leak? What did the dealer say? I plan to take it to the dealer in a few days and I'm hoping this gets covered under warranty.

since I have a DCT -- will this mean I will get a new transmission?

You should have removed the cover and see where it was leaking from; it takes me a couple of minutes with the car already lifted. Could be something as stupid as leaked fluid when filling the transmission, or something serious that requires removal to fix. Only an inspection can tell, so forget about speculation, as with the cover in place, oil could even be from the engine (you didn't even tell us where the oil was; it's a large cover). Just take it in and wish for good news . Good luck.

we did remove the cover... the stupid part though was I didn't take a picture.

there were two drops of oil in the engine liquid gasket sealant joint between the two halves of the tranmission. Hard to explain without a pic.

anyway I'll take it to the dealer and ask them to check it out.

M3 DCT transmission Oil leak

Did you get a resolution on your M3 DCT oil leak? I have M3 2009 e92 DCT and BMW of Dallas dealer just found a leak that is coming out of the DCT transmission. I am npt happy of course but dealer has never witness this problem before and the Foreman has contacted BMW corporate for repair instruction. Does this mean they will put a new DCT or will they fix the leak? Very interested in what you have to say on your 2011 e92 M3 as this problem is very rare....

Thks,

Pomcul

BMW Seattle is replacing two leaky bolts on the DCT housing. They feel that'll fix it - the new bolts should be in by Wednesday. In a couple of weeks I'll throw the car up on a lift to see if that fixed the leak.
