I'll bet we get it here.....someone should post this on Bimmerfest!
Regarding the 0-60 mph, if the 330i auto is being compared here (6.3) to this new engine (5.7), then that means that the manual trans 335 is going to be something like 5.6 or 5.5 to 60. |

I know this is a repost, but the NG6 program calls for LEV II certification for N54.

I actually hope the US gets this turbo engine.. it's about time BMW owners can squeeze some more power out of their cars for cheap (i.e. just a chip will give you much more power)!

I think the "NA" version we always read about doesn't mean "Naturally Aspirated", but "North America", which tells nothing about whether turbo or not.
I personally think it will be a detuned N54 3.0 bi-turbo. |

Really, I'd lay to rest the possibility of a 3.5L for the NA market at this point. There has been absolutely no hard evidence to suggest that one even exists (and as you can see by the document above, the turbo engine has been in planning for at least three years)...and here we have official press information for the N54. The N54 is clearly real and will clearly be in production in time for the 2007 model year...I myself am almost certain the US will get a version of this engine.
Of course, I could be wrong (even if the currently available evidence supports the above assertion). I'm not in-the-know at BMW, as it is. I'll tell you this much: if California is the reason that we don't get this engine, I'm going to march over to Washington and put forth a petition "suggesting" that they withdraw from the union.
