Congratulations!

We are also debating upgrading our wife's X5. It is getting rather old. But my wife doesnt particular care about cars and will never use the engine the X5M has, so for her it ll be money down the drain. I never liked x3, so was thinking the new x5 or Cayenne, but with no kids, we figured we wont need sucha big SUV. I am liking Porsche Macan. I think this will be our choice. We want to do another ED too and it is not oossible with bmw x's. That experience is worth to repeat!

The Macan is going to be really awesome. I love the Cayenne, but the X5M is a bargain when compared to a Cayenne Turbo (yea I know the Turbo is a better car in the same way as the 911s is a better car than the M3). My wife won't use the power of the X5M either, but she loves the handling, steering, and brakes. The X5M feels like it stops just as well as my M3. All that power is more for my enjoyment.

Haha. They will get a used, low hp, manual transmission car. And they will definitely have to work for it (and take a couple performance driving schools).

X5M is badass! Almost bought one for my wife but in the end she wanted the 6cyl....lol. Made more sense for us since she drives back and forth between our summer home and primary residence a lot (100miles). Gas mileage was important for us.

I'll never take it to the track for the sole purpose of driving it there. But if my wife ever brings the family in it during a track day I'll try to take it out for a session.

Mine too.

She wanted a hybrid so I told her that the 2013 x5 3.5 Sport was a hybrid and she let me buy it for her No way she would have believed me if I brough home the X5M. Plus I got a massive tax deduction for the X5 as it's gross vehicle weight rating exceeds 6,000 lbs so it qualifies as a "farm vehicle" (allows for an acclerated depreciation provision under the tax code).

That's hilarious on both accounts.

And OP I would love to hear what you think of this thing on the track if it ever makes it there
