After 6 track days, finally had this issue yesterday for the first time.
I was on a tight, twisty, low speed track. No issues to report though.

Yes, the airbags light came up when I installed the seats. I purchase the Occupancy Sensor bypass module by EAS. It is definitely worth it as the airbag error is very annoying on your i-drive. Also, the airbag error is caused by the missing side airbags from our OEM seats. The Occupancy Sensor bypass does not render your steering wheel airbag useless. It is still fully functional. I can say this because my car is no longer with me, I got into an accident back in January, a pretty bad one and all the airbags that were supposed to deploy worked fine. I walked out unscathed, sad story - but I can go on about it another day. The Recaro Profi SPG is by far the best mod if you spend 8-10 track days a season like me. I removed the seat prior to selling it and now the seat is back on my GTR. Seats worked great with 3-pt seat belt and it frees up a lot of space for the back seat passenger as the seat is significantly thinner. I can go on but I don't want to lead this thread out of topic. Hey guys.
As I'm going through power steering hell the last weeks. Any news on failures or DIY guides available? Looking for more experiences in the field as I had my car several hundred laps on the Nordschleife without any issues (running Macht Schnell pulleys from day1) but due to a technical failure we removed them and had to install the stock pulleys again. This lead to a boiling power steering just after 1 lap! At the moment I'm looking for possible ideas or solutions as I cannot believe that it's the power steering as in cold conditions everything runs perfect. But I also cannot believe that the Macht Schnell pulleys prevented my power steering system of overheating over the last year. I did a little deep dive into things yesterday. The stock setup is: Crank pulley - 12cm diameter Power Steering Pulley - 10.8cm => 1.11 ratio to the power steering. At 8000rpm your power steering pump will do ~8880rpm Macht Schnell: Crank pulley - 10.5cm Power Steering pulley - 11.8cm => 0.88 ratio to the power steering. At 8000rpm your power steering pump will do 7120rpm With the stock pulleys temperatures of the oil get over 100 degrees celsius (212 Fahrenheit) just driving a little bit faster on a windy mountain road at 20 celsius (68 Fahrenheit) air temperature easily. But that on a public road without the heat and load like on a race track. Will do some testing within the next days. Hope you have some more ideas...

FYI for this thread; tracked my car this past March and had power steering fluid all over the inside of the engine bay, no issues though, car handled the track well and I presumed from reading the boards it was the splashing.
Recently had a knocking sound in the engine that is being diagnosed today as needing to replace the power steering pump, system supposedly had a leak. Could this be related to low power steering fluid from the track day? No warnings lights or check engine lights indicating low fluid, at least two service calls since then and now and no indication from the SA of a problem or low fluid (for whatever that is worth). Is there a warning light for low fluid? I want to try and prevent this in the future for future track days if I have the same issue and be concious enough to watch for it.

You have to recheck the fluid (cold) after the track. You will likely need to add Pentosin CHF11 from time to time. If you've been to the track and couple of times and never added any then that could have contributed to the failure.
Apparently, CHF11 evaporates quickly as well.

as I did a lot of R&D regarding the power steering stuff this year.
The one and only solution looks like this. I promise you - it's 100% rock solid: Step 1) With the Macht Schnell pulleys I was able to do some laps without a boiling oil. Due to the reduced ratio of the MS pulleys the keep the temperatures a little bit out of the power steering system. Step 2) To get it really rock solid even during hot sunny days you'll need an additional power steering cooler. If you look at the BMW GT4 power steering cooler you'll see that it's much larger than the stock e9* M3 cooler. They didn't change it for the racecar without reasons. But the GT4 power steering cooler is way too expensive for what you get. That's why I solved it for a little bit differently. Here's my solution. This cooler here is added "in a row" to the stock one.
