white specs inside of headlight housing?

I noticed the other day that there are tiny white specs sitting on the bottom of the headlight housing (very noticeable up close against the black inside housing....one side of mine is worse than the other which has barely any,.....am i the only person who has seen this? And no this is not on the outside of the housing...

You sure they are inside and not rock chips? I have tons of rock chips...no white specs inside. If rock chips, they can be polished out, or wet-sanded out.

Did you buy the car new? Ever had the headlights open for any reason? Any body work done? I'm looking for ways they may have become contaminated...

I don't think this is a common problem; I've never seen it here before.

bought it used at 14k miles about 2 months ago and never paid attention until recently that close to the inside area of the headlights, so im not sure if this is recent or not....i had condensation problems for a month or so when i had the alpine HID angel eye kit with holes drilled into the headlight caps to put the wires through (again, this was from previous owner). But I uninstalled that crap and now have LUX with no condensation issues at all anymore....but im not sure how those white specs could have got in there...i had trouble getting the LUX bulb in the socket on that side though and noticed i scratched the chrome part where the bulb is near a bit and i wonder if that area could have flaked into the housing. It doesnt look like even if that area near the angel eye bulb was scratched it would go into the black bottom part of the housing, but maybe im wrong.

Hmmmm...could be the chrome flaking...

You could also see if any of the electrical harnesses/connectors have any excessive dielectric grease. That's really the only other material I could see contaminating the headlights.

From what I understand, HID coronas can get pretty damn hot. Not sure if that was a factor here...

Maybe the previous owner did a sloppy job drilling the headlights and this is dust/debris from that?

Do you have any compressed air you could blow in there? What about a quality shop vac to try to suck it out? You can buy some very small/detailed attachments at Lowes Hardware.

Maybe look into just replacing the plastic cover? Dont know how much that costs though. Btw...which LED angel eyes set up do you have?
