Oil level before track day
My oil levels have been on max or a 1/4 notch below when autoxing and doing hpdes. Now its at the halfway mark (3500 miles since last oil change) and i plan to go to buttonwillow at the end of the month. Should i top it off to max or do an oil change prior? Im mainly concerned about oil consumption and running low on oil at the track and going kaboom.
Should at least a top off to max be in the works? |

just bring a quart with you.
I usually don't every see a loss during track days.

I always bring a quart, but I'd top it off since you'll be on the track throwing some G's at the oil pan.
I usually burn oil driving to the track, but rarely at the track.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Surprised you guys don't see any loss at the track. Prolonged high RPMs or aggressive driving is the only time I seem to burn oil.....at least according to the indicator.

+1 ^^ Same here. The only oil consumption I experience is at the track, albeit it is very slight.

It will give you a warning at 1 liter low.
Suggest only putting 1/2 in and waiting a day before adding more ( the sensor is very jumpy and here is probably more risk on over filling than under ( 9 liter capacity in play).

If this is your first track day this year, then your oil should be okay.
I do change my oil after every 5-6 track days...

thats the tricky part. it wont give me a reading until I have to add one full liter. but at the same time I do not want to risk getting that warning at the track. its gonna be really hot and im gonna be running pretty hard. maybe i just do a whole flush lol. im just very paranoid with oil (had two cars go kaboom on me).
