I'm on the fence on this one. I used to play SSF2: Turbo until my fingers cramped. I like fighting games but don't have the time to get good enough to hold my own online. Plus as previously mentioned online play is dominated by tier 1 characters using the cheesiest moves in the game over and over.

The one thing that the demise of the arcade took away form fighting games was the real person interaction. If you played like too much of a cheese dick your opponent and his friends might just punch you in the face.

Online these days there is no such thing as a casual player. You get owned, repeatedly, with a massive learning curve. Once you get good enough to win a match you find out that your opponent, who is also new at the game, is playing next to some other expert dipshit who will jump into the match to make sure their friend doesn't take a loss on their record so they can boast about their win ratio in online forums that no one cares about. And both of them laugh at you over the microphone the whole time. Not fun at all.

With the new Tekken on the horizon, I just don't know about this one. I might try the rent first option.

Hardcore SF players should be playing Blazblue. Amazing game and the controls are super tight. Very high level play though. I've been playing for almost a month and am decent with 1 character.

This is true. I'm a casual player, and that means when I'm not at work, I'm not necessarily playing video games either. Since I work 9-5, Monday through friday, effectively a little more than 1/3 of my day goes to work. I sleep 8 hours or more, so that's now a total of more than 2/3 of my time not spent playing video games.

That doesn't mean I'm not a geek.

I know that Blizzard's battle.net system as an Arranged Match Making (AMM) system. I wish Street Fighter would do that too, so you wouldn't get beaten 2 perfects in a row without even throwing out a move to be blocked. It makes online fun impossible for me, since it's not even fun. I'm not asking to win, just for a match with someone of similar skill.

I remember I used to be good at Street Fighter 2 when I was 10. I could go into an arcade on a dollar and be there all day. I remember hanging around a college that had a Street Fighter 2 machine and beating all the college guys. It's probably a bunch of 10 year olds now who are winning all these games online...or adults who seriously don't work a 9-5.

I got Mavel vs. Capcom 2 for the PS3 and it's 10x more fun than SF4
