I've received a number of requests for M Button features (MDM and tighter steering) on non-equipped cars. I will work on that when I have time, and will need a 2011 car without those features for development. If you are local and want to partake in this, please let me know via email.

Also, new BMW software revisions (for DCT cars) force you to have your seatbelt on, or the car will not engage gear. There is one other change that it made was forcing the car to go into neutral if the door is opened (even at very low speeds). I will be working on that as well once I get a car with the newer software. I should be able to revert back and remove those annoyances.

I am still about 30 emails behind, sorry for the delay. If you've emailed me please expect a response by Friday, as I've reached my work load for the day and tomorrow is booked solid.

Thanks for your patience. There will be a remote coding solution which doesn't involve sending you anything but a flashdrive and cable which will be available in the semi-near future.

Mike

Will be seeking beta testers for the flash drive coding solution. The two cars I pick will get special pricing. Should be ready end of the week, time permitting.

It's an easy process:
1) I send you a flash drive or CD
2) You boot your laptop to the flashdrive/CD
3) Plug the cable I send you into the car (you can purchase the cable or return it)
4) Put your laptop on your wireless network
5) I remote in and do the rest, about 30 minutes later the car will be coded as per your specification.
6) You return (or keep) the cable and flash drive depending on what was previously arranged.

Final step is enjoying the new functionality

This sounds really great. I'm getting so tired of the car "gonging" at me for stupid things like backing up and going from reverse to forward as well as the new programming which does not allow you to drive 10' without the seatbelt or the door open.

So many features or tweaks that sound great so I've definitely subscribed to this thread.

Now, one other feature I have not seen discussed yet(may be because it is not controlled by the modules you can access, but not sure..) is the one related to the frequencies our radios here in the US can access (ie, only number with odd decimals) vs. the EU set-up that gives you access to all frequencies (I hope I explained this well).

Is this something you can tweak?

(oh my, my wish list would only get longer....)

I want to tell you all how great Mike was to me. I decided to get coding done on my car, a good amount of things and Mike gave me a reasonable price and even threw in a few extras while he was coding for me. Now this is where Mike gets great, we ran into a problem while coding, High Battery Drain and everything went into a halt, my HID angel eyes stop working and the windows would too. So we had to end it there and get the car some charging time.

This is two hrs later we gave it another shot, the angel eyes still not working and the windows were now but NOW the driver side window wouldnt roll all the way up, it would keep coming back down half way. Mike was very very patient and there was a time where we both were getting frustrated, yet everything maintained professional. We couldnt figure it out and it was decided the battery voltage was either the cause or i needed to go visit the dealer. YEA sucks i KNOW!.

Half hr later i realized their was tint glue on the bottom portion of the window and once i removed most it, BAM! the window worked perfectly. Now at this time Mike coded my car back to STOCK! to relieve these errors, so WE did it AGAIN! Yes he is PATIENT!. This time no problem coding everything all over took no more than half an hour TOPS. My angel eyes were acting funny because the battery was so low and the HID wouldn't fire up, After a good charge now there back to being bright and no errors. Everything works just like it should, now just waiting for my LCI tails to come in.

This process took a WHOLE day when all that was needed was half an hr and a good charge on a battery. Needless to say if anyone that wants to get coding done, DO IT with Mike, hes very helpful and patient even when his neighbors where rumbling his walls with their huge ass subwoofers hahaa. Thanks Mike for coding my car and being helpful when it was needed.

Questions that were unanswered:

From David7: Can the "curb monitor" (passenger mirror tilts down in reverse) be coded for cars without the feature - I guess it's part of the premium package - or is this dependent on extra hardware?

Should be able to get that working for you, even without premium package

MTROIS: Yes, we can change the frequency step so you can tune the other Frequencies as used in the EU

Any updates on the M-button retrofit Mike? I know that there was something in the works at one point.

Thanks

Thanks for your post.

I have four things on my list to figure out:
1. M button (but more realistically MDM) retrofit to non-equipped cars. I will need a car without these features installed and most of the cars in my area are pretty heaviliy loaded.
2. DCT 1 push to drive, instead of having to tap it twice to go to D.
3. Euro Radio Frequency Tuning
4. Removing DCT Seatbelt Patch which requires seatbelt to be on before gear is changed.

All of the above are possible, just haven't had time to sit down and try it or no R&D car to try it on.

Any other things you guys are looking for please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks!
Mike

Hey Mike
Sorry if this has been mentioned in the thread before and Im a complete noob at all this tuning and coding stuff.
But in your coding sheet you mention you can do ecu tuning like higher rpm and stuff. Is this identical to a ess or evolve tune method? and is this completely different than regular coding?

Also, Im planning on installing recaros. Can you tell me what happens when I install the seats without a code and then what the code does to remove the airbag error code.

Thanks

Hey everyone - Hope you are all ready for the holidays!

I am about 30 emails behind - my IT clients are keeping me overly busy. You will all receive a response in a couple days. My apologies for the delay.

Dellort M3: Will respond to your questions if I have some time later today. Thanks!

Also, did some coding for a 2012 X5. Came out really cool - corner delete for the new lights look amazing! And DVD in motion + motorized hatch opening and closing worked perfectly as well!

Once you have the seat belt - DCT gear engage fix, I'll be in line for that and turning off the stupid chime that goes off all the time, plus a couple of others.

Sorry for the slow reply on this one.

Let me try to clairfy for you:
The "tuning" options at the top of my coding list (specifically the ones that refer to Euro SMG software, and Euro DME software) refer to software flashes for the E60 M5 and E46 M3. This will change the software to the euro BMW versions - it's not aftermarket. So to get 5000 RPM launch control, etc. the modules would be flashed with the Euro BMW versions of the software.

Now as far as the tuning options for the BMW M3 (E90/E92/E93), my method would be the same as the ESS or Evolve method. This involves reading the factory software out of your car, and modifying it as per your spec. Here is the spec on the tuning software:

BMW E9x M3 S85 DME Tuning Software – MSS60 Features/Benefits:
  • Raised RPM limit to 8600 (at customers request)
  • Removed top speed limiter
  • Removed cold start cat heat cycle for smoother cold starts (at customers request)
  • Reprogrammed torque management parameters
  • Reprogrammed throttle response in both normal and sport modes (aggressiveness per customers taste)
  • Reprogrammed ignition timing, and optimization for your fuel quality (91,93,94,100 octane tunes)
  • Reprogrammed Vanos control for maximum drivability
  • Sharper throttle response and smoother engine operation
  • Software available for US, European, and Canadian specification cars.
  • Cat delete for cars that have an SES light due to exhaust modifications (off road use only!)
(Will retain check engine light functionality for any other detected malfunction)
Software versions for cars with specific exhaust modifications available on request. Typical performance increase is +15-20hp and 10-15ft/lbs of torque with software alone.

-Catless and high flow cat software is for off road use only.
-All software programming is completely reversible.
-All software has been dyno, track, and street tested for maximum reliability and engine longevity.

Tuning/Programming (what is discussed above, whether it's the factory Euro software or aftermarket tunes such as Me/Evolve/ESS) is compeltely different from option coding.

For your racing seats you will require coding, not programming. If you install the seats without the coding, you will have multiple airbag faults stored in the Airbag Module. You will have the airbag light in your instrument cluster, as well as the multiple restraint errors on your iDrive, etc. Chances are that one or more than one airbags will be disabled due to this.

With my coding, all of the errors will be gone, and the car will be programmed correctly as if it came from the factory with racing seats .

Each race seat coding is specific to the application (coupe/sedan/vert) and specific to the seats installed and any changes to wiring/connections (some people use different seatbelt receptacles, tensioners, etc..). Whatever the setup is, I can code it properly the way it's supposed to be. No multiple restraint errors stored, on the dash, or in the cluster.

It's a common occurence for the passenger airbag to be completely disabled when the passenger seat is changed with a racing seat. After my coding, all airbags will come back online and will function as designed, even with racing seats. I have done this to about twenty cars so far without any issue. I think I can safely say that I am an expert when it comes to coding different configurations for racing seats. I have even done many of these setups remotely, and have yet to have one issue brought to my attention.

Please let me know if I can answer any other questions you might have or clairfy anything above.

PS: Need someone local to LA with the DCT update to try getting rid of the annoying chimes and saftey measures that stop you from going into gear without your seatbelt on.

Thank you!
Mike

I have a 2011 w/o the M-button. If you can work things remotely (I'm on the east-coast) I would be glad to offer my car up. MDM / sport servotronic is something I've been very interested in.

knew how to code vehicles to allow car dvd's to play while driving as well...but the code has been 'cracked" recently by members willing to share that info for free...go figure...
I have heard people bypass the parking brake for an after-market in-dash car dvd player

Happy new years everyone!

I wish you a year filled with the best for you, yours, and your car of course

I will be responding to emails/PM's over the next few days, my apologies for the delayed response. This is obviously due to the holidays.

In the mean time I have an F series 550 GT loaner car while the M3 gets an oil change and such. This car is so ugly I'm scared to drive it, but it's fast so people won't see me in it

Still working on responding to emails - sorry again for delay.

Just FYI, if anyone needs a module retrofit, even it it's from a different car with a different VIN # - I can code it to your car no problem.

Successfully coded a few cars without angel eyes or welcome lights, with used FRM3 modules from donor cars. Rewrote the vin, programmed and coded, and works like it came that way This brings 2011 functionality to older cars.

Don't spend $400 at the dealer for a new module.

I am in the process of building a FAQ page which I will link and have my web guy put on the http://ultimatetune.com site which is being built.

I realize that my delay in responding is because I keep getting the same questions - so it makes sense to put the information out there to inform everyone about how the remote coding process works.

Keep me in mind (local, 2008, iDrive, no M-Drive or MDM). I know we talked briefly via email; I have other coding I still want to get done but I haven't had the time to call you. Hopefully soon!
