Prior to 9/11, use to make alot more than that.
Corporate is even more man. Netjets, Some of their pilots make 300K + flying the BBJ I bet

Sorry, bro but your smoking something. Guys leave netjets to come over to SWA,UPS,FEDEX. I knows guys at net jets, they like it there but pay is no way comparable. It's very rare that someone leaves SWA, UPS, or FEDEX to fly corporate or fractionals (I actually never heard of anyone doing it).

Go to Airlinepilotcentral.com and check it out. Plus, only a few guys get to fly the BBJ, so you'd have to be very very senior. Plus you work 18 days fixed a month.

Plus, 401k they only match 50% of your contribution, unlike other companies that put in a percentage of your pay, regardless of your contribution.

Plus at netjets you only get 50% 401k fund matching, instead of 100%. I don't think they have profitsharing either.
No I get random drug tests im not smoking anything lol. I was looking at the pay scale with one of my captains earlier and I remember seeing some of their pay scales are like 300k+ no one said they all get paid that much. But some of them get paid more than FedEx and UPS guys. Regardless of days off and 401k and what not. I was just speaking strictly salary.

didn't want to thread jack anymore. But go to airlinepilotcentral.com.

It has the payscale for netjet pilots. It maxes at 10 years for BBJ Capt at $235,601. To get near 300k, they'd have to do tons of extra flying, and with only 12 days off, that's very difficult.

UPS pilots are the highest paid pilots and their captains make more than that flying the minimum.

Now back to the original point about M3 drivers

although each sector has its benefits, corporate or cargo ftw overall. i flew corporate for a while and loved the hell out of it. i flew a glf4 for a couple of years and got paid significantly better than my flight school counterparts at regionals. i sure do miss it though, lost my medical because of a botched lasik procedure that has killed my distant vision in one eye. i still am able to hold a third class and plan to get back in the air sometime soon, but for now i'm doing the stocks and bonds thing. its making me more gas money than flying ever will anyway.

any embry-riddle grads or AHP brothers out there?

to hold just a third class medical (and not carry pax for hire) you must have at least 20/40 or better in each eye with or without correction. if you want a second class or higher, you need 20/20 distant vision.

If you want to work with an airline (first class), the FAA states you must see 20/20 with or without corrective lenses.

well considering the 4 and a half years of school and the tens of thousands of dollars spent on civilian training...not too well! but i'm over it now. i'll get back in the saddle someday, but for now, i'm grounded. theoretically, i could go to my AME and get a third class, but i can't really afford my own airplane and don't really want to spend $$$$ on renting. i do miss shooting approaches in low vis though...always my favorite

Give the kid a Civic and he will mod it and still kill himself. I think better parenting and better education are key. A curfew for drivers under a certain age might also help since it seems most of these incidents happen at night or during evening hours.

Track days are the answer! Most accidents occurs because of a lack of driving skills. Not looking far enough, mis-judging grip, and being over zealous on the gas are just starters. Put kids into driver's ed that include track days and test so that they can learn how different cars behave in different conditions. It also give a place for them to safely vent their aggressiveness.

I've been racing since I was a kid. Started on karts then graduated to road cars as soon as I got my license. I used my dad's heavily modified E36 M3 as my DD since I was 17. It spits out 600bhp ar the rear wheels and had racing suspensions and all.... basically it got the full treatment. Nevertheless, I never drove agressively let alone raced anyone on the road. Because thanks to my track experience, I know for a fact that the kid next to me in his pimped out civic doesn't know shit about driving, and I will be able to cut his lap times by half in laguna seca. Giving your kids track experience is the key!

Hey all remember this?

http://www.albertastars.com/posts.php?forum=4&topic=879

Please drive responsibly and for the ones with young teens try your best to avoid these situations. I've waited until I was 25 when I felt 100% ready and responsible to drive a high powered car (My 500hp + Stang). Again everyone drive safe.
