Lux V3 LED's lifespan? 2 years?

Had my V3's on my car since they were first released, today got an error message for my left parking lamp/drl (halo/angel eye). Turns out 3 of the 4 LED's are no longer functional (see attached images). I thought LED life span is expected to be much longer than this. Bad batch? The other Lux v3 unit is functioning fine, but makes me wonder if that one will go bad soon as well....thoughts?

I've put an email into luxangeleys and marc a few hours ago...so we'll see whart he says we well...

now before anyone says "perfect reason to upgrade to v4"...that's not the point of this thread...especially if I'm to expect such a short lifespan of the LED bulbs...

oh yeah..went back to my gp thunders..woohoo..might have to get some coding done to increase the brightness of these...

Seems strange Gene. Probably a defective unit? I was always under the assumption that LEDs last slot longer than that too. Hope LUX sorts this out quickly for you!

Agreed. I thought led's should outlast halogens by thousands and thousands of hours. Interested to hear what lux does for you. I've had mine about 1 year.

Subscribed...I asked Lux point blank about this and while they didn't give me a direct answer, they threw out 2 years as probable. It's one of the main reasons I don't use my day time running lights

A little over 2 years use with these with DRL's running on. If that's the case is rather truly hand with some halogen GP thunders and coding for increased bright ess.

LED's have rated lifespan but it is under recommended operating conditions. Whenever the LED exceeds the recommend operating spec (e.g. very hot/cold weather, high humidity, glitches) the lifespan is decreased dramatically.

Now to have coding done to make your GP thunder lights appear brighter is a bad idea since it can potentially melt your wiring.

that would be the case is the voltage was increased to a high, unsafe level...coding the voltage and "safe" parameters has been discussed and tested by members and vendors here and other forums...

did the coding last night....an improvements, but still not lux level....

still no response from lux,

Got an email from Lux. Will be sending the lux unit back for repair for a small fee as I am far past the 1 year warranty. Would rather go this route than purchase a v4 set

Lux shipped the lights to me Tuesday. Received them and installed them today. No codes and all LED's are working properly. Looks like the resistor pack and maybe the LED's were replaced.

Thanks again to Marc/Lux for the fast service.

A forum member is parting out his car and offered me his old V3s. He wasn't sure how much he will sell them for, but said he was thinking $150. Is buying a used set a bad idea?

One of my power supplies failed a month out of warranty and the car only had 6000 miles on it. I was not pleased paying the 40.00 for repair since they were hardly used and so close after the warranty expiration however it beats paying full price. I will say that LUX had great service and a fast turn around.

I had the exact same failure situation and the same quick service. Light has been working great after the repair.
