E90 M3 Sedan in 2007???

Yesterday I was by my local BMW-Dealer to get some Info-Material about the new M3 Coupé...and he told me that he has informations that also the 4-door M3 Sedan delivery starts in 2007...not long after the Coupé

I hope that this was true...good news for me, because I would order one as soon as possible...

Not a chance is this true. The M3 convertible will come before the sedan, and will probably be launched at Geneva 2008.

Dealers are the last people you should talk to about forthcoming cars.

Is anyone else annoyed by the slow rollouts of the BWM M models?

I'm not an Audi fan at all, but I do like how their S5 is going to be released near simultaneously with their A5, with the RS5 coming shortly thereafter.

By the time the M3 sedan hits the market, the current 3 series design will have been in the public domain for at least 3 years.

I agree. All the new M3's (coupe, Sedan, and Cab) should have hit the streets no later than 2 years after BMW started taking orders for the E90. As you stated, by the time the E92 M is out, the current gen 3 series will be at mid-life. Much to late. If I buy a new M, I want it to be fresh for at least 4 years or until the warranty expires. This will give me time to enjoy it and plan for it's replacement.

This is the first time that Audi does it that way. Remember the last RS6 and the former RS4, both models were launched almost in the last year of the production of the regular A4/A6 series. And I doubt the RS5 will be coming out shortly thereafter...
The M3 Coupe comes out a year after the launch of the base E92.
The M3 Convertible is aswell only a year behind the E93 introduction.
BMW allegedly had plans to start this M3 series with the E90 sedan, but then decided to "wait" for the true M3, the E92. Going that way BMW has to wait till the facelift of the E90 with the M3 sedan introduction...

You can never have a fresh BMW for 4 years, not even a E90 330i. BMW models have a production cycle of 7 years. After the half there's mostly a facelift. So the maximum you can get is 3 and a half years. If you're taking the E92/93 M3 asap, you've got a fresh car for 2 and a half year, then the facelift takes place. But that doesn't affect the M cars to much traditionally.
With the E90 M3 you can get the full 3 1/2 years, with the E92/93 aswell if you wait till the facelift. So everything's right IMO, everybody can decide for him-/herself what's the best moment to get a new M.

Right. A 2001 M3 looks bascially like a 2006 M3. Definitely not enough changes to call the 01 "outdated" next to the 06. Most would not even be able to tell the difference at 30 paces. So...

...IMHO you get 5+ years with the 2008 E9X M3 no matter what body style you get.

Good points. But, 3 1/2 yrs is close enough and doesn't change my strategy that much. I'll just trade in after 3 1/2 yrs or lease for no more than 42 mos. All sounds good to me.

I was hearing the same. Fall '08 for the facelift and the M3 E90. Some say the M3 comes already in spring others say also the facelift comes in spring!?
Anyway fall 08 remains my guess...

Fall 08 for the 3 series face-lift right? Not the new M3 face-lift?

Right, E90/91 facelift. M3 sedan should already come in E90 facelift style just like BMW did with the M5 Touring.
E92/93 facelift is said to be anytime in 2010 (probably spring), also M3 E92. But traditionally M3 E92 doesn't get a big facelift (On E46 M3 only rear lights have changed and a little detail on the boot lid).

Best regards, south
