Kaiser VS Blue Shield CA

Anyone have experience with either of them? I'm trying to choose a plan: Kaiser HMO or Blue Shield HMO (Blue Shield PPO was considered but was dropped).

Thanks!

Blue, it tends to be more expensive, but you will get better care.

The problem with kaiser is that they are providing the care and paying the bill, so they will put off "non essential" stuff for years

I strongly suggest that you inquire which insurance policy physicians in your area (including your current physician) take before you make a choice.

That being said, in my experience, blue shield is generally more widely accepted. Kaiser is more strict about which doctors and which clinics/hospitals you may go to for care.

^ Yeah I think it's because Kaiser owns and operates their own hospitals while Blue Shield contracts with other facilities. Originally I was gonna go with Blue Shield PPO but I'm not sure if I need that so I dropped it.

If you are young and can save some money kaiser is good for emergency type care.

If not, or if you think you are going to be having kids go blue.
