Over 1,200 Miles and No Service...

I have 1,239 miles on the car now and I'm not scheduled for service until Tuesday. The "Service Overdue" icon pops up when I start my car.

I haven't gone too crazy with the RPMs since picking up the car but should I hold off on driving more until I get my service done or am I good to go?

Where in Montgomery County are you? That is where I was born and raised and lived there until 7 years ago.

I was raised in Laytonsville/Gaithersburg but I bought a new townhouse in Germantown. Work down near White Flint.

You traded the DC area for FL smart move, I'm going to go tear up the back roads off of 28 around Darnestown/Boyds now that I'm not scared about the break in service!

I grew up in Potomac but lived in Germantown from the time I was 19-30. Lived in the neighborhood by Milestone shopping center, Seneca Crossing I think. You should go tear up South Glenn for some nice tight twisties, although been a while since I was on those roads so not sure of the condition they would be in now. I will be back there the start of August for a week so plan on hitting up all the fun roads. Not many great roads here in flat, straight Florida.

Ha yeah I'll take it easy this weekend. I searched but nothing came up I'll check out your thread if I can find it.

DadzM3, thanks for the advice! I take the back roads up in Damascus, Clarksburg, and Laytonsville for low traffic fun.

In summary, I won't redline my car until after Tuesday. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

I live off of Piney Meetinghouse on Piney Glen CT.

We really need to get a meet going soon for the Potomac/Rockville/Gaithersburg Area.

P.S. South Glen is still twisty.

That was my area growing up. Had/have friends that live on Piney Glen Ct. (at least I think that is their street name) Like I said, been a while since I was back there. I don't know how old you guys are, but I am 37, if close in age I am sure we know some of the same people, maybe even each other.

Not a big deal. Just continue to keep it under 5500rpm's.

i dont get why people say this, why would they give you crap? most of them dont even know what the hell a 1200 mile service is let alone give you crap for being over, you are paying them not the other way around, you think those service people care? no not really.

basically you are taking it in for an oil change and an oil filter that is it - make sure they dont touch your tranny fluid if u have dct, believe me they have no clue about it most spots

Beck, this is my first BMW so I wasn't sure but it seems like a few people have gone over 1200 so I'm not sweating it anymore. Had a great day of driving in the DC area today in 90 degree weather

Dadz, I know some people that live on that rd and a few down off of River Rd. too. A few college buddies who went to HS at Landon and Georgetown Prep. I'm 25 but we may know the same families. Really nice area hopefully in a few years I can afford to move down that way.
