Akra Evo tune necessary?
Seriously considering the Akro Evolution, a little hesitant about getting the tune. If I don't get the tune, what am I missing out on besides the CEL delete (which I read I can get rid of without a tune) and deleting the cold start? I read it corrects the dip in power at 2k rpms, what else would I be missing out on not getting the tune? Sorry, been reading as much as I could, want to know if I missed anything.

I have akra with delete R and no tune. I do not feel this rpm dip that everyone says its plagued with. My car pulls strong Throughout the entire range. Only time It feels weak is 7th gear doing about 30 mph

All i can say is yes it is must. I have a ESS Akra tune. My car was at the dealer this week and my tune got overwritten with an update from the dealer. The car is total different and lacking power and smoothness that it had with the tune.
I got to get off the internet and fire up the direct flash unit so i can get my tune back.. You guys without the tune dont know what your missing...

A tune is by no means necessary but it is a significant improvement for the little extra you pay in comparison to a full Akrapovic Evolution.
Although my car is otherwise 100% stock and my Evolve Stage 1 Tune, even that made a tangible difference. I recently flashed back to stock since I plan on dynoing this week or next and I quickly noticed the difference in driving experience. I think what the Akrapovic Evo specific tunes such as the Evolve or ESS offer is improving and enhancing what the exhaust already does.

We have a specific Akrapovic Evo Tune which is widely used with very positive results.
There are different versions of the tune where by customers can request the following: - RPM Limits - Speed Delimit - Akra Dip ONLY solution - Power tuning for entire power band - Tuning for different octane fuels - Cold Start Delete Any combination of the above is available. All done through our evolve-R cable and software which is specific to evolve. |

I have Akrapovic evolution without a tune and I needed a tune to drive because I think the tune makes more fun to drive. I don't no more about it so when I will get some knowledge about it, then I will share my knowledge with you.

Thanks, but my Akra and ESS tune were installed just last week. I drove the Akra for a couple of days before I installed the tune, you do feel the slight dip at 2k rpms, and of course the CEL came on after about 30-40 miles. The tune corrected those. I also deleted the cold start, although I would rather I didn't, I liked how it sounded, but I'm sure my neighbors appreciate. You can really feel power boost both the tune and Evo add, especially at higher rpms, the car just breathes better and responds better. I am really happy with both the exhaust and the tune, you are gonna love the combo.

The Akra is in reference to the Akrapovic Evolution exhaust. The ESS is the name of the tune. The two most popular tunes from what I can tell are the ESS and the Evolve on this forum. You can search and get information on both, as both have been discussed many times. I don't know what kind of information, specifically, that you are interested in. If you can't find it searching, send me a PM and I will try to answer it as best I can.
