Yeah, true. In the end I agree that the M3 won't likely have any big discounts or deals soon. But it will be interesting to see how long (or short) this initial batch of cars sits on the lots.

The dealer I am working with has two cars sitting at their lot that need buyers. They are looking at upcoming allocations that have no buyers. The dealer let me know that if I knew anyone who wanted an M3, to have them call and spread the word of the availability.

I am amazed that a few month ago we were complaining of waiting lists and deposits. I personally had placed a refundable $2,000 deposit at the dealer. At the time I was told there were 20 buyers on the list. What happened to the 20 buyers?? This whole thing seems almost reminiscent of the Playstation 3 release where buyers were given a sense of "shortage" which caused a rush to buy. Now the PS3 prices are down over $100 and units are sitting on the shelf.

Other factors such as high lease rates, crumbling housing market, falling stock market and interest rate fluctuations have given consumers reason to be cautious, especially when looking at big purchases. I imagine that by the time the sedan w/DCT is available, gas prices will have peaked for the summer at over $4.00/gallon which will really hurt consumers.

For me, this means that I may have an even better pricing in June/July!

colors available

Timsev, do you have production numbers available by exterior color?

That is, how many of each color have been built, or are speced to be built for each color? Thanks in advance. If able, am interested in numbers for Silverstone II.

So, it's aluminum, not titan shadow?

Yes. Aluminum - I'm due to test drive the car on Sat.

Lucid also saw the car. It has 18" wheels. I didn't have time to check out all of the specs.

Ah, it looks like not all cars on the East Coast have Titan shadow trim.

My thought is the possible M3 buyers that are just barely affording the lease will need to really consider owning a car that costs a lot to operate.

must be, I didn't feel like looking at option codes for 60 different cars. I just saw about 10 with titan shadow and stopped looking

I don't have access to other dealers' production numbers.

You guys are taking advantage of me. Give me awhile and I'll look for you.

Hey timsev,

Can I take advantage of you too? LOL. I went to check out the M3 at BMW Houston North the other day and while there I checked on my status. They said that currently I'm 9th on the coupe list with 6 people in front of me with production #s. That means I'm 3rd on just waiting for allocation with expectation of not getting it until April and delivery in June. That's too long!
I was wondering if you could see if what they are saying is true (no allocations right now) and if there are any others in the Houston area? If you're busy, totally understand. But would greatly appreciate it.
It seems like there are plenty of cars available for sell at MSRP but they're the demo/launch cars with the standard AW/Black or MR/Bamboo. I want to spec my own AW/FR and M-DCT.

Timsev,
Considering that some members cars will not be produced until May/June, can you tell me when MY2009 M's will actually set ground in the states. I realize that 335's arrive late Sept./early Oct., but will the M likely follow suit? Thanks in advance. Take your time, I do not want to take advantage of you .

looks like they're telling the truth. they have six allocated right now, and they also have the MB demo car.

Greatly appreciated timsev!
I'm glad to know they were telling me the truth. Unfortunately they're just not getting a lot of allocations. I guess I'll just have to call around the country to see if anyone does. You mentioned Braman in Florida has two allocations and I'm sure some others do too.
I checked out BMW Woodlands during lunch (wanted to see Fox Red on the sedan) and the CA said I couldn't get one til October! Maybe Houston is just getting screwed.

Actually, since Houston is such a huge dealer, they have more allocations than anyone else. I would just wait it out and your car will be there before you know it.

Well, I would have thought so because I thought they were pretty big. But only 6 allocations for both launch day, March, and April production? Is BMWNA just really that tight with allocations? How is it that a Florida dealer has 2 allocations not even sold? Markup? Or maybe just more M3 buyers in Houston?

They cars in Florida don't say "sold" on them, but there might be people who have deposits on them. You never know.

From what I've seen, I think there are markups all over.

FWIW:

I went to Santa Monica and they are marking up a loaded AW e92 w/ moonroof $15k.

Also in Long Beach they have an loaded AW e92 no moonroof marked up $20k

Not to mention that some salesman at LB came up to me while I was sitting in it and told me that it wasn't for sale, and that's why it's marked up $20k. I just laughed at him.

It seems they are trying to keep one on the floor in order to entice people to place an order or see who is willing to pay the markup.

Like others said, there were no "SOLD" tags on them, and salesmen are claiming that they are selling them with the markups.

Anyway, on another note, I saw and heard a JZB e90 m3 w/ 19's being moved to their back lot, and it looked and sounded pretty good. You can definitely see the blue in the sun. I have to say that the idle sound was more docile than I expected it to be, and it was a bit quiet even when he pulled away and kept it in 1st…I imagine he reached around 4k rpms because it seemed to build up before he braked for a corner. It wasn't bad, but it's now clear that one needs to open her up to fully enjoy the noise...

I'm ready for the low mpgs, what about you guys?

Here in the DC area I have seen 4 cars, 3 coupes and 1 sedan. 2 coupes were IB and 1 was JB, the sedan was JB. The dealers are marking them up and they havent moved yet, but then again they havent even had them a week. I ordered a Jet Black and it gets here in 3 weeks or so......unless the boat sinks.
