Tell him Andrew from the forums sent you, he should be able to work out something great.

Just googled 'fladeboe'. Looks like a honda/vw/buick dealership in CA. How is that helping any of us get an OEM BMW warranty?

Bumping this thread...

Was at dealer for service today on my 09 M with 6800 miles. Found out my warranty expires on the 30th. My S/A- told me to extend 100k coverage was $3200. After reading through this thread- that seems cheap as to what some of you are being quoted?

BMW raised prices on 4/1/13.

I just purchased a 6yr/70k powertrain plus from Daniel Dutton at Pacific BMW. The price was about $2600. That was the best price available of any dealer I contacted. I bought an OEM BMW warranty because I have heard too many horror stories about 3rd party warranty companies denying claims.

Find out from your dealer if the price is for an OEM BMW warranty or 3rd party. There are 3 types of packages: Powertrain plus, gold and platinum.

Also, BMW started the new 6yr/70K plan recently...you may look into that if you don't plan on driving the car much. Remember, the warranty starts from the original "in-service" date of the car. It was the best deal for me as the powertrain plus will cover catastrophic engine or trans (DCT) failures and the price was better than the $6K BMW wants for the "platinum" coverage.

Good luck!

What package did you get for $3200 and how long is the coverage? This is an excellent price on an M car.

Haven't gotten anything yet. Simply inquired today...

Will get more details about which warranty/ and what it covers. But 99% sure it's by BMW and not 3rd party.

Talking About to go out of Original Warranty

Any news on Extended Warranties? I go out of warranty in a few days, with only 11,000 miles on my '09. Not anxious to go naked on this car. Thanks.

How does bmw warranty compare with 3rd party like Easy Care that is also offered at BMW dealers?

I've heard 3rd party is as good or better in terms of parts coverage and is cheaper?

I heard the exact opposite. This was from a friend that worked at the dealership.

In my mind, extending the warranty on this car does not sound like a reasonable thing to do.
The math says you've driven the car 6 miles per day or 42 per week. Unless you or some previous owner abused the thing, it's still brand new!
Believe me when I say, BMW knows you are not "going naked" and would looooovvee to to take your money. They don't have the anxiety you have about the car. They know the wear and tear on your car has hardly started and that it is very likely going to go a lot longer than one or two years without them making a payout to you.
Save your money and when you start worrying about the car, go get a bottle of Jack Daniels with it and ....

My only issue with your statement is the main bearing problems with our E9x M cars. Some of us won't know (unless we test out our oil) if our main bearings are going to fail prematurely. Otherwise, I would have no issue going "naked" on this car until one day the bearings do fail from normal wear and tear, but 10 years from when I bought the car. Then the engine should be cheaper than 18 to 24k for a replacement.
