2012 IS-F Review
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._f_first_test/
Seems like the car is getting much better. I wonder if Lexus is also researching turbocharged 6 cylinder options for the future ISF. |

sat in one at the Chicago Autoshow and was extremely dissapointed with the interior fit and finish. That, plus no MT = not for me.

The E9x M3 is a 5 year old design. The other manufacturers are JUST starting to reach it. I don't know what that says but I think it says a whole lot.

I'm sure the F8x m3 will be a beast and it'll be interesting to see what Lexus does with the motor in the next gen IS-F.

Good point. I thought of that after. I think it's fair to say that Lexus have spent that same stretch of time attempting to catch up...and perhaps they finally have. IDK.

The problem with this car imo is the fact that its an auto. If it was a 6mt, it would be more competitive because it would offer a more torquey option than the m3 in the same segment that is available with a 6mt since the c63 is auto only.
The other problem is that it is the only one of the 3 that doesnt feature some form of dual clutch varient and uses a conventional auto instead. In additon to that, in my opinion the only thing it does better than the other cars is perceived long term reliability. If i was going to get an auto sedan, it would have been c63 for me all day. Good attempt by lexus though, just brutal competition.

...and fuel mileage I believe. If anyone cares about that in this car buying segment.

I do think credit must be given here. The ISF doesn't have the luxury of the years of M or AMG tradition and engineering experience. To make such strides in a fairly short amount of time is laudable.

ISF-F needed to be a coupe and needed 7 gears and needed to slightly resemble a Toyota Supra, with 208+ performance. Where the **** is my twin turbo v8?
Lexus, GFY. PS, stop ***ing around with the LF-A, nobody gives a ****. |

My wife and I test drove a 2011 IS-F with a few thousand miles on it when looking for cars a few months ago. It's nice, handles much better than the regular IS, good engine. We liked it until we drove the M3, wasn't even close. Much better transmission, handling.
