The Blue Man group show is funny and a must see. Maybe Cirque de Soleil?
When I was there, earlier this year, it was an absolute MUST to drive a Ferrari 458 around a race track at Exotics racing!!! The experience was simply priceless

I'm gonna be honest, I've never gone to Vegas, but I sure do watch a shitload of Vegas strip.. And from the way I see it, you'll find something to do on the strip.

I'll go someday

DiavelM3- I looked up things to do on tripadvisor and saw that racing company. Only thing is they are not open on new year's eve day. It looks pretty freaking sweet though. It's quite expensive but it might be worth it. It's definitely on my to-do list. We'll be sure to check out blue man group.

Keep the suggestions coming guys!

The Gun Shop - shoot full auto assault rifles.

Sunbuggy.com - high speed dune buggies in the desert

Red Square - For martinis

Hoover Dam

Walk the strip

Cirque De Solei - "O" at the Bellagio (best one in my opinion)

Ferrari & Maserati museum at Wynn

Gamble in Aria

Tomohawk ribeyes at Carnevino in The Palazzo (Mario Batali's steakhouse)

Craftsteak at the MGM (Tom Colicchio's steakhouse)

Hash House for breakfast (off the strip)

+1 do as many of these things as you can. Blue Man Group is a good time as well as others have said.

New Years in Vegas is pretty nuts, you'll have a hard time even walking through the strip. They shut it down at both ends pack it in with people. (imagine shoulder to shoulder) they will also close down all the hotels/casinos to the general public, unless you are staying there and have a key to prove it. (I think this is only for an hour or two though) either way you'll have fun, the last time I went I ended up being near a balcony/screen where coldplay was playing. fun times

World class driving. I did it last year and I'm doing it again in a week. It's cheap for what you get.

He seems like a douche but his show is damn funny - Carrot Top go see it!

You gotta hit up the Stratosphere and go on the Big Shot ride, their gambling is cheap as well.

Take a tour of the Carroll Shelby Factory and Museum at the end of the Vegas airport runway.

Garage List
If you haven't seen it already, recommend a half to full day at the Grand Canyon. We found a package that flew us to the lip of the canyon, then a helicopter ride to the floor. Then a complimentary lunch and flew us back. Think it was about 200 a person. Pretty awesome.

As others have noted, walking the strip is fun. A great place to people watch if you're into that.

Most of the stuff people are saying to do you won't be able to unless you are staying a couple days after new years. Its too crowded and the prices of everything skyrocket that weekend.
If you are just there for new years. I suggest having some liquor on hand and just stoll the strip.
