One complaint!
So it's been about a month now and the only thing I can complain about is the dash display. My sweet spot in the car doesn't allow me to see the speedometer or the rpms. This being the case, I was doing a first gear pull yesterday and completely over shot the rev limit. I looked down and saw like 9000! Ouch! The power cut out and I assume there was no damage, I hope. Anyone else have this issue? I am not new to manual cars but in the past (my evo) I had gauges installed for this reason and I always had an rpm gauge right in my face so this wouldn't happen. Needless to say those boy racer days are over and my M will definitely not get gauges installed. It sucks trying to drive hard and have to divert my attention away for that split second to check the rpms. Other than that I'm in love. If anyone knows how to get around this please comment. Oh and yes I've tried moving the steering wheel but its just not comfy. Thanks!

You should be able to adjust your steering wheel position and seat in such a way to see all controls perfectly. Give it a try and let us know ...
Play with both the seat and wheel adjustment until you have a perfect sight like this ...

PS. After a while I no longer need the RPM gauge the feel of the car and sound tells me when to shift

Most of the time when people say they can't see the dash, they are sitting wrong. Take a driving class on the track and you'll see that you probably sit too low and too far back.

I have a similar issue, but my problem is the steering wheel does not just adjust down low enough for me. I like race-car style steering, not school-bus style. I like to sit high up and have low steering, but I find the steering wheel on this car is not as adjustable as it was on my S4, so I too cannot see the top of my gauges.

I don't know about too low? - Surely you want your CofG as low as possible?
Anyway I like to have the wheel as low as possible which restricts the view of the top of the speedo so have to compromise on that. I also like to sit closer to the steering wheel than my long legs will allow. |

Just need to play around with the seating adjustment, no reason that you shouldn't be able to see the gauges (Please don't sit like a rice burner guy who has his seat fully reclined lol) Also need to listen to the engine speed you'll get the hang of it. There's no harm to the engine in what happend it just hit the fuel cut off, the reason it stayed on is proly because you didn't take your foot out of the gas. Red line is also 8400, unless your chipped
For me I like to have my seats so if I reach out my wrist would sit on the top of the wheel. I also like to have my arms somewhat bent just incase I should decide to go sideways I'm already poised to correct.

Two questions.......
1. Are you sitting in the back seat instead of the front? 2. Are you only 5 years old and practising in your daddies car? Coz any other way you should be able to manage!! |

I'm 6'3 and sit rather upright with the chair fairly low to the ground and still had this happen. As it is now, I raise the wheel just enough so I can see the tach and the shift lights.
