I think if you cant trust them enough to leave the car there, then you should not have them do the work. I think $600 is a little expensive. But not bad for a piece of mind. keep in mind that even if the paint match, they might not prep it right, or use the right additives. Later on cracks could develop from all this. Just take it else where if that trust is not there. I had my from bumper's plate holes patched and repainted and it only cost me $250 from a good bodyshop. I did remove the bumper myself and just brought them the bumper.

Amazing to me that they would return the car to you like this. Had similar experiences before. Obviously they don't check or take pride in their work. Unless they have a blind man putting back the cars together. I wouldn't trust them to do it right the second time, but if you go somewhere else don't try to get their money, you are on your own.

Personally, I'd be tempted to talk to the manager and find out what went wrong - and base my decision on that. I used to work at a body shop (many years ago now) - and we always had more than one painter on staff. There was always one guy who was better than the others. It sounds like you didn't get that guy. If you talk to the manager and they have a reasonable story, are willing to sand down the paint properly so you don't have too much buildup and will stand behind the work I'd give them another chance.
After all - painting and color matching is still done by a person - and we all make mistakes sometimes. -Scott PS - One caveat, check the BBB record for the shop first. If there are lots of unresolved issues or tons of complaints then run. In that case, I wouldn't trust them with anything - find a new shop to do the work. |

they should be given the opportunity to correct it. then you're later lawsuit would be a better case to fight.
wow, never realized how hard plain white was to match. I thought perhaps mineral / metallic white, but just AW, that's surprising. I had a red car once, I had a similar issue but the match was "close enough". |

Have them paint some swatches for you to see if there is a match with your color; if you're satisfied, let them do it again.

Would you let a forum member post two threads on the same topic within minutes of each other, especially considering that despite making minor adjustments to the thread title he still managed to spell "repaint" incorrectly both times?

As it has already been suggested, make the shop take the gas cap off and send it in to make sure the paint is spot on. There should be no excuses at that point, and the paint supplier will also be on the hook for mixing incorrectly twice.
For your inconvenience you should have them paint your amber reflectors to the same Mineral White FOR FREE. And if you wanted them painted, get them to paint your outer kidney grills and your fender grills too. Think of it like getting the iND cosmetic kit for free (I believe its $350). Or maybe sucker them into doing those grill pieces ala Performance-style in gloss black. |

The better question is.."How many threads does it take to paint a bumper correctly?" 6 threads already and counting
