Test pipes with custom resonated x-pipe?
I like the idea of getting the test pipes to gain that valuable HP, but HATE the raspy sound that comes as a result. Does anyone make resonated x-pipe that completely or nearly completely eliminates rasp?
On my e46, I purchased a rasp terminator that worked well. Anything equivalent for our E9x M3's?

AS long as you retain the 2ndary cats and stock resonators, there isn't much rasp when using test pipes IMO. If you have a different xpipe or modified the OEM one, then I don't know the answer.

No. I have the oem exhaust mod (perf pipe replacement). Love the more aggressive note. Just not the rasp.
I'll check out that video. Thanks!

If you are already sensitive to the rasp with just the oem mod I advise you to stay away from test pipes. If you insist on test pipes then you will want to consider a different exhaust as oem mod + test pipes = rasp.

Sorry, let me expand. I LOVE the OEM mod, and everything/sound that comes with it.
What would be ideal would be keeping the same sound, or slightly louder, but no appreciable increase in Rasp or tinny-ness. I'd even take more bass, just not the horrific rocks in a coffee grinder attached to a horn, rasp.

Interesting the test pipes sound kind of like the oem mod, just more raw.
Perhaps the answer is having resonated test pipes. Has anyone replaced primary cats with resonators? The macht schnell design is very appealing. So add resonators to that and we have something!

I found a clip of the akra slip on plus test pipes. Interesting and a good (but expensive) way to cut down the rasp.
However, I think i like the sound of the oem mod better.

After all that I have really found that the oem mod is the best you can get in terms out sound quality, volume, and drivability. Bottom line, if I were you I would either just keep what you have (maybe you can fall in love again) or look for aftermarket if you want more volume. |

Anyone make a quad resonated x-pipe without cats, or preferably a hi-flow primary to cut down on the smell?
That should do the trick, no?

So does anyone make a test pipe with a resonator on it? That would provide 4x resonators plus the secondary cat to keep noise down but free up power. Also keeps smell at bay.
Let me know if this exists or if anyone made something custom. Thanks

ACM was looking at adding resonators to their test pipes if there was enough interest.
