Electric fan.

I have not tried this feature on my car..question how much drain does it have on the battery? Can it be set for more than 20 minutes?

It does not have alternate settings other than what time you want it to fire on.

I wish it would turn my car on with a/c full blast. and shut it off after 10 minutes if I don't unlock it.

After reading this thread few weeks ago I started using this feature and I think it makes some difference. My car is black and black leather and I park it out during the day at work. In this 100F weather it was horrible getting into it. Now it's still hot of course but doesn't take that much to cool it down.

Ha ha, I just tried setting up this feature for the first time when I parked my car just now and then I come up and log on and this thread is the first one I see. kinda funny. I will post tomorrow if I noticed a difference.

It's equivalent to leaving your windows cracked open a bit during the day.

That would rock...if you really want it, you can get an aftermarket alarm with remote start and a cellular remote. Easiest to install with auto transmission but possible with a manual if you leave it in neutral. (They have to install a sensor on the shifter and bypass the clutch switch).
I've never seen an install on a E9x but I assume it's still possible.

That's one thing to look forward to with hybrid cars in the future... with electric-driven AC compressors and big battery packs this sort of thing would be a snap to implement.

I'm happy just having window tint, sunshades, and tilting up the sunroof.

I've never used it even in hot TX because I never leave the car under the sun parked for more than a few minutes (plus with the sudden dust storms here I wouldn't anyway), but seems like a nice feature. Only problem is it drains the battery, so you should charge it after getting home if you use it, especially if you don't drive a long commute.
Has anyone ever been able to get rest functionality in an m3 (post 09 model year)? I thought m3s had mechanical waterpumps, which would make coolant recirculaation for Rest purposes impossible.

Yeah, it works. In the winter when you are using heat, it just blows air through the heater heat exchanger but does not circulate water. There is enough heat in the water that is just sitting there in the heat exchanger that it still blows warm air for a few minutes, which is all it was meant to do.
I don't think the rest function is meant to be used in cooling mode. It wouldn't do anything except blow air.
Rest function and Parked Car Ventilation are two different things, just to keep it clear.
