2010 wish for a new radar detector

I have a 2010 M3 E90 and need a radar detector.
I have read the Passport 9500ci thread. I wonder if hard wired is really the way to go. Is the V1 or the passport any better than a windshield or visor mount?

What product offers the better value in technology/price?
I know this is a bit of a rehash on an old topic.
I would greatly appreciate reccomendations for or against radar detectors and or jammers.

if you dont want to hard wire, the 9500ix would be the way to go

Ken,
Thanks. I expected to see V1 fans argue superiority to Passport 9500ix.
Should I think more towards hard wire? Why?
I have an 06 330xi as well as 01 530i. Thought I could share between cars but odds are I'd forget to move t between cars.

V1 much better range plus directionals but outdated, boxy looking, no gps, still with lots of falsies
Escort 9500ix good range, camera and speed trap locations, able to update to certain extent own your own, slimmer and stealthier, more updated technology, able to purchase at retail stores.

Escort 9500ix gets my vote

The V1 is known more max range and sensitivity. To ask for no false alarms is to fail to understand what the purpose of the Radar locator is doing.

If you can't control the quality of the data coming into the database of cameras, traps, etc, why should you trust what the whiz-bang detector tells you?

Skip the gimmicks and get the real deal. This ain't a fashion show, and the arrows are a key feature for awareness of signal origination.

Hit the nail on the head IMO. Nice summary.

I have both, just still in disbelief you can't dim/dark mode a wired in V1 w/o having to use the cigarette power cord. Hard to be discrete when it looks like a christmas tree..does have amazing range however.

Appreciate all the great input
Does direct wire of detector or jammer void BMW warranty?
