Hey Minkster! So cool to see you here! Yeah... the C6Z is comfy enough for the street and amazing at the track. Anyone who says it's not an enthusiast's car has never been to the track. But there are a lot of badge whores here....

congrats on the car. Like I said previously, I never really considered one until I drove it on a whim and loved it. If you havent driven one, you really should at least check it out before dropping 70K on something else. I'll probably end up in the M3 yet due to impending children and love that, too. However, all the snobbery regarding the vette is just inaccurate. If you like driving the M3, you would probably enjoy the Z06 - a different animal but a very capable one which is fun to drive.

trah23, I was hoping you would get your M3 but I think this Z06 will suit you just fine. Have fun with it man! I'm gonna have to get some engine mods to keep up with you if we ever run into each other.

Us M3 owners aren't in some elite club or anything, we just own a cool car. I got some friends that hate my decision in purchasing an M3, they wanted me to buy a Skyline but I just couldn't get over the ugliness factor. The only other car I considered was the Audi S5 because I wanted a good looking luxury coupe. I've got an NSX for that connected to the road goodness. But I like seeing people do what they want. I know you kicked around different ideas on the color your M3 would be. Then you tossed around ideas about what car to get. In the end, you did what you wanted and didn't become a sheep. Now you got performance that none of us M3 owners can match yet. Yeah, there are things that make the M3 different but the Vette is unique by the same token. You did your research, you made your decision and it's the best one for you!

bro the z06 is better in every criteria except comfort...
when i mean every criteria but comfort i really mean it... the z06 is almost an exotic, a semi exotic... the torque and pull on this car will blow your head off... especially if you are 23.. get the z06, get the qm600 cams, ported throttle body, killerbeee intake, software, borla or corsa exhaust, and then pm.. telling me what you think |

My friends and coworkers from Europe all tell me that a Vette is very exotic in Europe and draws a lot of attention. I guess because we live here in the States they are more common. The materials and technology it has are used in exotic cars.

I am a pretty hard core BMW fan. Currently have an M5 & M3 but my opinion of Vettes changed dramatically when I did the most recent Sin City driving school out at the speedway.
My instructor took me for a few hot laps in his stock C6 Z06 and I was very impressed, as an out of the box track car for the money it’s tough to beat |

Why are you so angry Supraman? because trah will be spanking your car with his Z06? He most definitely has "the biggest weenie" now. My condolences.

You know I first thought Supraman's personality is quite abrasive. It might not be if you get to know him (I don't know him just observing). But his dry sarcasm is great.

It always comes down to preferences. Practicality-wise, the M3 wins hands down. However, if you're looking for practicality, wait for the new CTS-V, then compare it to the M3.
Personally, I think that vs the M3, I think Z06 is a bit of overkill. I think a '08 Corvette Z51 would easily provide just as many thrills, with a slightly more livable ride if it's to be a daily driver. For me, it's a hard choice. I love the looks of the M3 Coupe, and the DCT looks ace. However, if I want to flatter my ego, I'd go for the Corvette, because nothing turns heads more this side of a Viper. My personal bias is the engine--the BMW's V8 is a marvelous engine, but even it can't replicate the V8 burble of a Chevy smallblock. Add to the fact that it's easily the most modable V8 on the planet, breaks the tie for me. Obviously though, if I had it my way, I'd buy both |

I haven't driven the new vette but have had plenty of GM vehicles and can say I'm glad I got a M3 now. Although the drivetrain is quite impressive in the C6. It never seems to take much time before a new GM vehicle starts falling apart and having problems. Plus I prefer the styling of the M3. Not only does it look like a fast aggressive car it also has a nice clean classy look for when you don't want to draw so much attention and just want a nice looking car. Where as the vette only looks fast and aggressive like it just belongs on the track. But that's just my opinion.
Unfortunately I'm still stuck with GM for work cause no one else seems to make a good full sized pickup.
