My New '12 M3 Competition Coupe with MPE & SB!
Huge shout out thanx to all y'all for putting up tons of informative, insightful posts on all things M3. After hours of reading posts and researching, I finally picked up a '12 M3 DCT Coupe with Competition Package (Black on Black/Fox Red) this past weekend and I'm in love! I mean, the descriptions from every magazine and online article don't do this ride justice! Whether you call this thing a scalpel among knives or give it any other analogy, it's just engineered at a different level! Wow!! The ease at which you can throw this thing into curves, the non-stop pull in each gear, the fact that I get more pull in 6th and 7th gear in the M3 than other cars do in 1st and 2nd, etc, etc, etc. is all testimony to the marvelous engineering put in behind the scenes to make such a refined, inconspicuous, raging bull.
So, after the itch to buy it, I got the itch to mod it right away. I haven't done much, 'cept throwing on the M Performance Exhaust and ...wait for it...Sprint Booster. I know there's a ton of opinions about the SB, but I'll tell ya, it transformed the car for me!! Transformed it. No joke. Seat of the pants dyno with SB is stupid quick. Crazy, I know, but it's hard to dismiss it. As for the MPE, I'm loving the throaty sound it gives over stock (like many other posts on the subject, I think the car shoulda come from the factory sounding that way). What's odd is the car felt a bit smoother and quicker after I had the MPE installed. Odd cuz it's not supposed to add any hp gains and only drops the overall weight of the car by a bit. My butt dyno must need to get tweaked cuz it's feeling everything..wonder if it'll feel quicker after the upgrade to the Lux angel eyes. Pics to come soon!! Too busy unleashing the beast and piling up on all them smiles per gallon!! Open to suggestions on any mods / bolt-ons to get this quick beast any quicker! I read a good bit about the CAI from AFE and others, but I'm not convinced it offers any gains yet.
