I'm about to head on a road trip and want to carry one of my 18" OEM wheel with me. Will the 9.5" width wheel (rear) fit in the front incase I were to have a flat on the front wheels? Or would it be better for me to bring the 8.5" wheel (front) instead?

front is for front, rear is for rear. If you have a flat, I would rely on BMW assist or the puncture kit instead, not worth the extra weight of carrying 1 or 2 wheels.

Remember BMW assist will only tow you to a dealer who will not repair a flat. Check with your insurance policy, most holders have a roadside assistance coverage where you can call any company, have them tow or fix the flat on the spot and you send the bill to your insurance policy.

Rear tire will work as a spare, may rub a little and the car will not track straight, but it'll get you there. Better than putting a front on the rear and abusing the diff
