DCT 1/4 Mile Drag Help!
After searching around for a couple hours I could not find what I was looking for please help!
Tonight I will be going to 1/4 mile my car at Island Dragway. This is the first time I have ever drag raced my at a 1/4 track. My car is a 2009 DCT coupe with an eisenmann race exhaust and a BMC air filter, so its pretty much stock. What I wanted to know is from those who are experianced on here with 1/4 racing there cars what is the best way for me to launch? I have done launch control a bunch of times on my car but i find it is just A TON of wheelspin and is not the best for launching. What I was thinking of was Normal EDC, MDM, and D5. Does this sound good? I drive with paddles 99% of the time when im driving my car around town, but I thought i wouldnt have to worry about trying to shift perfectly when the car will do it for me. Do you think D5 is better than S5 for the dragstrip? My last question was how, if at all should I heat my tires? To my knowledge I dont think our cars can do a standstill burnout. If I hold gas and brake at the same time I think the throttle bodies shut down. If there is a way to do a burnout let me know please. But if not I dont think its a big deal because I practiced some launches in D5 the other day and there was pretty much no wheelspin whatsoever and my tires were relatively still cold. All help is appreciated! Thank you in advance! |

Your other option is to just feather the throttle off the line in first gear and shift away or push it into D once you get going. DSC off. To do a burnout turn DSC off and floor it. Engine will rev to 7000rpm and dump the clutch. Our friend Drew on the board is an expert on the burnout! However, you don't need to do a burnout with regular street tires. Just go around the water box.

thanks for the help man. Unfortunately I went to the dragstrip not knowing launch control should work ok there. I think I did ok though for my 1st time especially considering it was a real crappy track and it was prepped awful. I ran 13.5 at 110.
next time though I plan to go to nj motorsports park and ill give lc a try. Thanks for the tips! |

Englishtown is a well known track, so it will definitely be sticky.
