My new V1 mount

I wanted to share a new aftermarket radar mount I purchased for my V1. I found this mount on eBay and contemplated for months on purchasing it as I was not sure how well it would work. Needless to say I decided I would give it a try and I made a best offer at $25.00 which included free shipping and my offer was accepted. Once the mount arrived I had to rewire my already hard wired V1 as the wire was too short to get below the mirror since I had it above the mirror on the right side. After everything was said and done I was pleasantly surprised that it looked pretty good. The suction cup seems to be solid yet I have only had it for a week now so I can’t speak for longevity.

My overall opinion on this is that it now gives a better front and rear line of sight. It is easier to see and press the mute button when in need. It also no longer gets in the way of my mirror and has one suction cup rather than two small ones that you need to get straight when placing it on the windshield. My original V1 mount for both my car and my truck do fall off the windshield every once in a while so I am looking forward to seeing if this stays in place longer.

I have included a few pictures with this mount on my car along with the eBay link and direct web page. Let me know what you guys think of this mount.

It had been mounted above the mirror on the right side but would get in the way of adjusting the mirror at times, not to mention that it was not always easy to see which radar band is going off. It is all personal taste and I thought I would share it as I am sure some of you will like it where others will hate it.

you gotta take down the dome light and then tap into one of the live wires, i think it was green. For ground drill a hole in the ceiling and ground a wire. I had to do this because i have a e92 with cf roof and there where no screws or grounding points.

This can defiantly be a possibility. When the radar detector was mounted higher you could still see it if you were looking for it but it is a little more hidden like you are implying. I hope my car does not get broken into over this and if it does I’ll let you all know in another thread.

I followed a DIY on this forum and connected it at the fuse box which is located behind the glove box. There were no tapping or splicing.

I recommend the tap-a-fuse hard wire method. It is documented on this forum.

I like the radar detector mounted above and to the right of the mirror. Very inconspicuous.

How about the Blendmount or Country Joy Craft.

Get the remote display unit. Allows you to put it somewhere easy to see and mute without needing to compromise where you mount the detector. Plus is way better for night driving since you keep everyone around you from seeing your V1 light up.

Looks like a solid mount. Might be too late, but I have mind directly behind my rear view mirror so it is out of sight from the back window and have the stealth display mounted in my ashtray.

I have the concealed display on my truck for the purpose you mentioned below however in my M I thought it would be too much as there really is not a good place to mount it. I also have the color overlay on the V1 in the M and the color overlay on the concealed display in my truck. That MOD is really cool and should have been made that way to begin with.

Mine was originally mounted above the mirror on the right side for the past 7 months. It would fall off at times and would sometimes get in the way of the mirror when making adjustments. The way I have it now makes it so much easier to access and read the bands when going off at night.

The color overlay helps a ton too for determining the band that is signaling as well.

This is not for everyone but for me I like it better than the way I had it before.

I have mine completely concealed with the external display in my mirror thanks to Alekshop. Looks like this:

Removing it every time you park in a public place is not something I want to do.
