DIY2 matte black your kidney grill (video+detail)

Hey guys,
As the title says if you want to matte black your kidney grill yourself, here is another DIY I made. Its in detail and appx. 10 minutes long.

Same disclaimer as before. I'm not responsible for any damage caused.

Also, If you have 16 bux to spare, buy an electric palm sander. It will get the job done in 1/4 of the time and uses the same paperlike sandpaper.

Sorry I keep posting these DIY up guys as some of you might find them annoying. I won't make anymore after this I promise. lol

Comments and questions welcomed.

I hear you. I already bought mine too for like 100 something. After RLDZHAO did his sides though it was cool and some other members where asking about the kidney's so I got my chrome ones and did them. I'm giving them away to a member on here.

hahah yeah I'm moving soon let them deal with the carpet About the chipping I'm not too sure but its an alternative for people not wanting to pay 100 plus for these.

Palm sander....great idea. I've been sanding on one for awhile tonight and it still needs work. I've found the hardest parts are the thinnest sections on the top and bottom. I can either sand just the sides, or just the middle, but it's hard to get both. And wet sanding might help keep the paper clean of plastic dust. Also, I tested the duplicolor clear on a reflector earlier after 3 coats of black and it really didn't give it too much shine. It matches pretty well with my fender grills w/out clear, and I think the extra clear coat should help hold the black on.

really?? Clear coating it is then. How many clear coats? Yeah it should help keeping it from chipping. After I'm done tomorrow, I'll take pix of the ones I made vs the aftermarket ones I have on my car.

I just did one coat on the test piece and it turned out fine. I'm a little wary of doing more than one, as I don't want it to get too glossy. I just wanted a little extra protection for the base coats.
