The app doesn't display graphics/data on the nav screen on purpose - to prevent drivers from being distracted while driving. The only screen you'll see while you're driving while using this app is the recording screen (featured in the video).

Thats true, it would cause issues. Either way its still a cool app to use on a track!!!!

Ah I called it from the comp video. I was messing around with my car and it looked like (at the time) that it would be something made available to current and latest BMW's. Plug in, go to connected drive apps, and pick one. I figured BMW can just push new apps to that screen (kind of like when they added yelp and news to iDrive)

Finally a great reason to have BMW Apps other than just Pandora, way to go BMW! Finally delivering on the promise of making BMW Apps a more useful platform over time.

I'll have to think about whether I want to use this though, because I have a feeling the reason insurance doesn't cover you if you're timing yourself (my insurance covers HPDEs otherwise) is because they know it changes the decisions you make out on the track, and not for the better. Those two reasons are why I haven't timed my laps thus far, and frankly I'm still at the point where my improvements are pretty obvious without a timer (just made Yellow with Driver's Edge), so I don't yet have a need for telemetry to compare subtle differences in lines, braking points, etc yet. I read an article on the Nurburgring where the police said that when they have to go tow a wrecked car, 80% of the time the driver had a timing device running.

Nice. Finally something useful coming out of the BMW Apps which they already require you to get with the Nav.

Yes, it will work on all iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), as long as it's running the latest iOS version.

This is really awesome just don't understand that they make an app like this then when you track your car, they cancel your motorplan/warranty

No they don't. Some dealers won't cover brake pads, but that's about it.

^ What the guy who quoted you above me said. They don't cover track-level wear and tear under Ultimate Service, but your warranty is fine.

Thumbs up

Wow. As others said, it's a track enthusiasts' reason, finally, for BMW Apps! Yay!

Hey, Jason, a question, please:

I bought the snap-in Media Adapter when I had an iPhone 4s. Now I've got the iPhone 5. But just looked again on-line at ShopBMWUSA.com and still, do not see an iPhone 5 snap-in.

I don't really want my iPhone 5 flying around the passenger seat. Do you know if an iPhone 5 snap-in is in the plans, or should we think of another option? Or, how about blue-tooth for the Apps? The technology is already there. (or, pushing the edge, a faster 802.11n WiFi bridge?)

Thanks.

- V
