Would have to be a me offering thing as opposed to a being asked kind of thing I suppose. You drive my car I'll drive yours perhaps?

Most of my friends and family would never own a BMW, never mind an M car. Almost everyone I know despises BMW's so I let them drive hoping to show them the light. I let friends/family drive my car as long as they aren't bad drivers and can drive a manual well. The M3 is really easy to drive.

There is no F*** way!!! I wouldn't let anyone drive my M3 and I don't even have it yet. In fact, my wife already knows the deal; if I ever catch her in the driver seat and the car is ON, it's enough grounds for divorce.

Wow some of you guys really have to chill, I teach my friends how to drive stick in my car. It's just a car. The only thing I ask for them to do is dodge potholes and any obstacles in the way, other than that I don't have any problem with it.

I'm a little surprised at how many forum members who go through the effort of registering on a forum to share their enthusiasm for a car don't take that a step further and sit trusted friends and colleagues behind the wheel.
One of the execs at the company I work for drives a Z4M and as soon as he found out I was a car guy, he booked us a 2pm meeting on a sunny day and threw me the keys. - He gets a drive as soon as my car returns from ED. Another friend let me rip around some country roads in his pristine Stingray. He gets a drive, and so on. My wife is an excellent driver, and I'll try and persuade her to drive my car as often as I can when we get it. Also one of my best friends is series car guy, we both wrote for approval and were granted exemptions to work on the Forumal SAE race car in our final year of Aerospace Engineering (instead of being good little Aero guys and working on the UAV, Gas Turbine, or Satellite projects) back in the day. He recently bought a 2007 E90 328i, he'll get lot's of drives as I know he'd love an M3 if it fit his budget.

I want my friends to drive my car. I encourage my friends to drive my car. I've had one of the best track days I ever had when my wife came with me and did 5 laps. She was great. She can take the car whenever she wants. Mind you, she never does because she's too uptight about the rims, the rims. With the winter wheels on, she has no qualms. I actually enjoy watching my wife or friends blast thru the gears on the M. They have a smile from ear to ear and come to understand my passion. They cant help but acknowledge the sound and feel and it sticks with them forever. Ive taken this approach with every car some less $ than the M and some more. It makes me happy to share my passion with others I care about and it makes them happy too.

Welcome to M3Post. What a bunch of wadded up panty scrunchers.
The only people I won't let drive the car (by themselves) are teenage boys for the obvious reasons. With me in the car, anyone. I'm teaching the 14 year old to drive in the M3 because it's the only manual in the household, and I'm going to teach her on manual before automatic. My better half wrecks cars on a regular basis. No amount of training seems to be able to cure her of this. She drives my car all the time. The brakes and handling might help her avoid an accident in the future. Besides, it's a damn safe car if she does get in an accident.

Wow guys its a Car! I have let a few of my friends and Dad drive my car. Its insured.
I have also been on the other side of the fence and have had the opportunity to drive other peoples cars and exotics so why not pay it forward. I have friends who are enthusiasts and would love to own an M3, but for various reasons its not in the cards. |
