My understanding is that DTM requires the use of a 4 litre 90 degree V8, but there are no power caps. Each team is allowed only 1 spare engine, so reliability concerns create whatever cap there might be.

Mind you, the new GT3 'revs to 9000 rpm' but makes peak power way before that. At 8250. So like an M3

The 9k rpm is pure marketing BS. The rotating assembly is strong enough to rev to 9000 but won't make power past 8250.
This is akin to the N55 making peak power at 5500rpm but 'revving' to 6500. Pure BS.

If you had proper cams to keep making power at 9000rpm it would have many more horses
At what RPMs is peak power then Danny? I have noticed that I can chirp (DCT) 2nd at a little over 5,500 but not if I'm in the 8,000 range. Is there a thread showing what the perfect shift points are or is it at 8,300 In every gear? Stage 2 tune, pulleys, intake and exhaust change these numbers?

peak power in the S65 is at 8300 rpm. Pretty much regardless of mods except if you do a stroker.

Someone compiled a list of optimum shift points. In the 6MT/DCT I figure it's redline in every gear
