'08 e93M to '13 e92M
So, I made the jump. On Wednesday I picked up a 2013 e92 M3 AW over black, competition package, DCT with 22,xxx miles on it. Basically fully loaded minus extended leather.
My initial reaction was I noticed how much more ridged the chassis felt and how much more nimble the car felt. After driving the e93 daily for about 2.5 years, I could definitely tell a difference; it felt like a different car. The other hing I noticed is the bottom of the seat does not seem to be bolstered as the e93. The bottom of the seat on the e92 seems much more flat. I also went from a 6mt to the DCT. So far, I am loving the the DCT. It is amazing how fast it shifts and it is still very engaging from a drivers perspective. I do miss the clutch and physically shifting the car, but man the DCT is sweet. That being said, are there any tips and tricks I need to know about the DCT and the new navi system?

Yea, those are my winter wheels from my e93. The e92 has the stock silver zcp wheels for summer.

1. default to S3 when the car start. valets will then typically drive in 1st gear all the time... 2. at low speed 1st gear sometimes it would have this jerking motion. would go away if you step on throttle more 3. i wish it shifts even faster... in some situations it does hesitate a little bit even i'm pulling the paddles myself that's it... all these are solvable / will be improved with a DCT tune i heard. planing to do it once my warranty is over. also it's nice to replace the shift paddles to the bigger / longer aftermarket ones, the OEM is a bit small. it's a nice and easy DIY. enjoy your new ride! Beautiful spec! I just picked up an alpine white with carbon roof and love it. Manual though, but I hear great things about DCT!

Get the gts tune from Alex@alpine. Best money I've spent. Car shifts perfect and quick. It's extremely flawless and has no jerkiness. Did I mention it puts it in s4? |

Congrats!!! I made a similar jump, going from a '11 e93 6MT to a '13 ZCP e92 6MT. You definitely feel the weight difference right away and it feels like a completely different car (even more so w/ the DCT I imagine).
I do know that if you are in a higher gear, you can downshift immediately to the lowest gear by stomping on the gas and then pulling the left lever. I am curious how you will feel about the DCT long term and if you will miss/regret leaving the 6MT club. In the meantime, enjoy it in good health!

Yes the box moves slow on the paddle under low throttle, which seems fine to me, but is lighting fast soon as you start give it some! |

My thought exactly!
I have a very bad history with valets. I will save the story for its own thread.

+1 GTS DCT update is a must.
As others have said this is by far the most necessary and essential update to the car. I wouldn't even wait till a car is out of warranty. Reach out to Alex @ Alpine. Cost <$200 with feature coding.

That being said I am going to miss driving around with the top down. The engine sounds sooo amazing with the top down. I I'll look into getting the gts tune!
