Any reason to choose full x pipe over Turner test pipes?

I am trying to decide what I want to do with my exhaust system on my m3. Regardless of what I choose, I plan to keep the rear section stock.

My primary concerns are

-maximize increased power over stock (will be combined with ess/evolve tune)
-minimal rasp
-not too too much louder than stock (a little louder is cool)
-good value

So basically, it seems like the best bang for my buck is to go with the Turner test pipes. But parts like the AA, Fabspeed or encore full catted x pipe do seem like good parts as well. And ive also never heard a vid of a car with turner test pipes and the rest of the exhaust stock.

Is there any reason to go with these setups over turner test pipes?

IMHO no...unless you just want to spend more money for a minute difference in gain. BTW, some of the cars that have shown the most rwhp have had the Turner Test Pipes. The OEM xpipe is a great piece as the main restriction has always been the primary cats. You get to keep the OEM fitment and you only spend $400.

I had the Turner Test Pipes with the OEM exhaust and it sounded ok, a little rasp, slightly more throaty but really it just didn't sound right.

Good feedback mate.

I'm thinking of matching up the turners with something like eisenmann sport or something else with a mellow sound to clean up the sound.

I just don't want a droning super loud car

Eisenmann is not "mellow" even the sport has a ton of drone. If you want quiet do not go anything but Performance exhaust from bmw

I've got custom made pipes (same as TTP) and never looked back. Significantly lower cost for pretty much identical power gain (there may be a couple of hp difference, but with xpipe's at an extra $2000, thats a lot of $$ per hp).

I have it all paired with a Gintani race rear section and absolutely love it! Very loud, in your face and drones a little but i wouldn't change it for anything. So if you don't want a super loud car i wouldn't go with that option

In real life (ie, not a vid), is the Eisenmann Sport noticeably louder than stock? I'm guessing that it is, but I haven't heard one.

The Eisenmann Sport for the E9X M is in fact pretty "mellow". The sound (db rating) is the same as stock however it carries that distinct Eisenmann tone. Many of our clients prefer the Sport system to the Race when mating it with an X-pipe or test pipe.

Thanks for the reply. With the turner test pipes, how is the sound above 4K? Also, with the turner test pipes, is the sound close to stock under 3K?

I'm looking for something that has a slightly more aggressive tone below 3K, but that wakes up above 4K...will the Eisenmann Sport / Turner Test Pipe solution accomplish this?

I think a good aftermarket x-pipe around $1200-$1500 is well worth the money versus a $400 set of test pipes. The OEM exhaust has several crushed bends at several crucial sections on the OEM piping and this restricts the flow and affects performance. I have seen aftermarket xpipes with full cats, both HFC primary and secondary cats still putting more power than stock just because of the increase flow. I would hate the idea of having to cut the OEM pipes and having to do a welding job plus your secondary OEM cats and resonators are still restrictive.

You are better off getting a new full replacement xpipe with a improved diameter, mandrel bents, and HFC or just pick a second hand one.

An xpipe is the single most important aftermarket performance part for the S65. Nothing makes more power than a quality xpipe. Don't cut corners there.
