"The ultimate fighter"

Has anyone followed this season?

This show freakin sucks!!! So far not a single fight worth watching.
Maybe this welterweight class just can't put on a good show...

Discussion?

Nope. Personally, not a fan of the show in general. For free matches, okay, but even then...I found most of them are hard to watch so I stopped watching the show a long time ago. I don't see it being good for the sport in general either.

i don't really like the ufc genre. i still prefer boxing. and ufc is still not a real fight: can't elbow. real fights don't last an hour.

Elbows have been allowed in the UFC since it began. Try watching a fight then see if it's still a boring one hour fight... most of the time they don't get out of the first round (5 minutes).

I stopped watching after season 4. I can't believe the show is still on actually. Back when there was a PPV on every 6-8 weeks I loved the show, but it has gotten so dilluted over the years, plus yoou have PPV's every 4 weeks now plus the free on TV shows.

I wouldn't bother trying to argue, everything about his post says:

- Hasn't watched a fight

lol yea, he must have never heard of JBJ if he thinks you cant elbow in MMA

as far as TUF goes, the international TUFs have been much better, I watch the UK vs Australia and its been solid, great fights, lots of finishes and overall good guys. They dont fill up the shows w/ punks who are there just to create drama for the dumbed down american audience

^ yeah you got me @@

sorry but the ground game bores me. seen maybe 5 fights, didn't like it

bottom line: it's a sport with different rules, but one that's still bound by rules, thus it's not a real fight. and i prefer boxing. /thread

btw, don't worry about the empty insults: i'm used to the heat

It's just turned into another "real world" story. Too many reality shows to pay attention to another one. Seems like all the people on these shows are from the bottom of the barrel. Everyone's got a sob story...everyone's just "doing it for my kids".... whatever.

Lay 'n pray styles turn off people. There have been some excellent ground battles before, though, so perhaps you haven't seen the right matches. Most grappler vs striker ground fights that come to mind aren't the best examples unless a slick sub happens and even then there can be a lot of one sided-ness leading up to it. Otherwise, people that aren't as familiar with some the intricacies of setting up certain submissions, escapes, etc... can find it boring. Conversely, even with two ground fighters...there have been some pretty boring matches. Watching ADCC can be boring sometimes since most participants are typically of a high caliber wrt the submission game so they play it safe.

Two better striker/grappler matches that come to mind are Nog/Herring (the first one. Pride) and Serra/Carter (UFC 31). The former was a clinic of subs and escapes...and a REALLY sloppy kick by Herring about when Bas was commenting on Heath training @ Golden Glory. The latter had more striking overall but Serra was trying sub after sub up until he ate that second spinning back fist.
