Just make sure you get one for the lighter/alu M3 bonnet. A standard series strut will be too harsch.

I went with the Stabilus and confirmed that the oem struts are made by Stabilus. Oem are more than 3x the price of the non-BMW branded.

Yeah, my hood would start coming down on its own once the weather got cooler.

I went Amazon, cheaper elsewhere but the shipping made Amazon the better deal. AMZN wins again:

Yes, same as the part numbers I put in the OP which are for the M3. I've installed mine and they work perfectly.

i just got them and i don't think these are the right ones. it takes way too much effort to close the hood. it feels right if i use one old and one new. is there any issues by doing this?

Look at the part number man, if you got Stabilus part 9669ZC, that is the correct one.

It makes sense that new ones aren't going to be as easy to close as your old, worn struts.

It will take more effort that you are used to when you replace the struts, but they will break in fairly quickly and feel normal.

I can confirm the same. Just replaced my worn out OEM ones with Stabilus purchased from ECS. It was a bit worrying at first.

Are you saying Stabilus #51237060550 from ECS actually fits e9x m3's ?

Because their compatability selector thinks otherwise. I'll try and get the ones from M43S7RO's amazon link, but it would be good to know for future use cases.

Part 51237060550 is not for the M3. It is for the regular e90/92/93 which have heavier hoods compared to the M and your hood will feel like it's gonna wheelie your car from what I've read if you install in on an M.

Go with the ones in the link or find the part numbers in my OP elsewhere.
