BMW M3 vs 335i
Hi guys,
I am new to this board, I own a 2007 Audi S4 and a 2009 Mercedes Benz C350 4Matic. My previous ride was a 2001 BMW 330xi, therefore I am always a fan of BMW but I just like to try something new when it comes to purchasing vehicles. So for you M3 owners, why did you pick M3 over 335i? A fI engine is easier to tune up and it can be as fast (or faster) than the M3, then why did you pick M3 over a 335i? Anyone? |

didn't mean to flame you. This topic has probably been discussed 50 times already. Ok you can get the 335 faster in a straight line big deal. A 335 will NEVER FEEL like an m3. The feeling of 8400 rpm cannot be matched. Theres a reason why the car is $25k more. Hope this helps.

[Edit] ^^^lol!
Just go test drive the two. If you can't tell a difference then obviously save your 20k and get the 335. Or maybe just get a hamster kia and be done with it. For the record I think the M3 has much greater potential. |

I would have to agree on handling, but a set of nice coil overs can overcome that issue. However, high revv engine is definitely worth it, nothing beats the sound of high revv engine.
The problem with the S4 is that there is not really much you can do to it since it is NA. The only performance part you can get to gain power is probably the down pipe. All the CAI in the market are all like shit and stock is actually "colder" than any of those. That's why I wanted to bring this topic up again. Sorry I am a noob on this site but I have been thinking about this question. Any feed back is appreciated. |

I bought the M3 for one reason and one reason only...
...so I could pay 2x more for every mod to my car vs. the 335i. To the OP>>>>

Yes MTM makes a supercharger for the S4 but it cost wayyyyyy too much for the power gain. It is $50K CND to get that. On top of that, S4 is sooooo heavy it is not even funny.

It's just that you are asking a loaded question right off the bat. That's not a good way to start... The 335i is a smaller displacement twin-turbocharged car. Of course it's going to be easier and cheaper to mod. Everyone here knows that... The 335i is also cheaper than the E90/93/93 M3...everyone here knows that as well. So obviously comparing these two particular cars here (in this forum) is not going to go over all that well. It's more about how the car makes it's power, how it handles in the twisties, and how comfortable it rides...rather than how cheap it is to mod.

Here's a simple statement to go by. If you're not going to track the car, just get the 335. It's a great daily driver. But if you're going to track the car, the M3 is definitely the way to go.
Even with coilovers, the 335 will not feel as tight as the M3. The suspension arms are different, but interchangable. There are sponsors that sell packages that include all the necessary arms. This combo would be a great all around car.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

The M3 came in a prettier color than the 335, so that was the only reason that I bought it.
