One answer I gave was "The Odd and Even numbered gears are on opposite sides of the gearbox and he just had a blank look."

But I would have to say that is the same question I get asked the most. Followed by; can you floor it when you leave?

Joegun, my German is not good enough to understand everythign on the DE configuration pages, but I was wondering, is the price difference attributable to VAT? We don't have anything like VAT in the U.S.; there is only a state sales tax, quoted separately by each dealer, of about 3%. In my experience doing ED, BMW makes the buyer sign an affidavit promising to take the car out of the country within a certain number of weeks. Otherwise, BMW would be on the hook for VAT that it had not collected. |

The questions I'm getting most from my spouse (she's a 325 E90 automatic driver): "Now, why did you pick this particular model?" And "But it's really just an automatic, right?"
Sigh. And she's a Top Gear watcher, too. Go figure. |

So 95k€ - 19% VAT = 77k€ = 98.5k USD. Normally if you import a car from the US to Germany there are also +10% custom fees and +19% VAT. So with that I think we came to a range which matches the US prices... |

Finally someone asked me "is that the M3 with the twin turbo?"
That came up when a coworker whom I never talked car with before started talking to me about cars after having heard the new black bimmer on the lot is mine. He sounded fairly familiar with cars and bimmer... driving an older (he told me the MY but I forgot now) 318is and sounded like he knew what E46 is when I told him I had one (325i 5MT), etc. I guess he just doesn't closely follow like we bimmerpost regulars do
