335d unknown prob!!!
I wrote about an issue with my 335d (2006 60k) a few weeks back "shrieking noise"..... I put it back into Specialist Cars Stevenage again on Tuesday and I'm still none the wiser. They wanted it for 2 days, then an extra day, and then they have booked me in the loaner (new 1er) until next Weds!!!
Briefly, its a shrieking noise at 2-3k revs under load. They have already replaced a sump gasket (unrelated I hope!!) and the vacuum hoses which were perished. This time they have replaced the vacuum resevior(?) which hasn't fixed anything either. The "master tech" is now working on it full time to rectify the issue.... Here's my issues 1. I paid for the vacuum pipes to be replaced (not warranty) @ £160 which should have fixed the issue. This didn't so where do i stand with that. The parts are on my car so fair enough but it hasnt fixed the problem they said it would! 2. The car is no longer under warranty - I asked them about this and apparantly as the original complaint was while the warranty was in place, i stand a good chance of it still being covered providing its a warranty issue!! 3. They must have been working on the car for 30 hours so far all in (including the previous 5 days). If they think I'm paying for that labour bill they might find a brand new 1er loaner driven into their showroom 4. What the hell is the issue?? I have no clue, the standard tech has no clue, so far the master tech has no clue......... P.S. Anyone want to buy a 335d M Sport..... It's been faultless |

BMW rang and said it is the Exhaust Manifold Gasket..... There has been a PUMA case apparantly but I cant find anything on it, anyone heard of this?
It is supposedly a massive job having the exhaust and turbo's off...... But getting a goodwill replacement FOC despite warranty expiring 9/11/11..... Thankyou BMW!!! I should get it back Weds but does anyone know if any further damage could have been caused by this fault and would I have been down on power? I cant wait to get it back now...... |

I know that some 530ds had an Exhaust manifold cracking issue, but im unsure if the 330d was affected and ive never heard of it affecting the 335d
I just replaced my exhaust manifold on my VW Transporter as it was cracked, i had a loud "shriek" as if the boost was leaking, but with the new manifold, gaskets etc fitted its sorted the "shriek" and it is back up on power thankfully I know this post hasnt really helped you but i thought id share my experiences with leaky exhaust manifolds |

No problem, my van has been remapped to around 180bhp so I noticed it was down on power when it stopped pulling up hills in 6th gear with the trailer on, now the manifold has been done, she's all good again
