How to Remove Climate Control Panel

I searched but couldn't really find it. I would like to remove the climate control panel. Does the trim piece (carbon leather on my car) above the climate control panel need to be removed first before the climate control panel can be removed?

Also any instructions or video on removing both pieces would be great.
