With the Sedan expected to be not replaced.

BMW are considering the 3er Gran Turismo. Before the hatred begins.
3er GT is nothing like the 5er GT in form. It is lower and sleeker although uses the extended structure that will be found on the F30 3er Li for the Chinese market.

Think of the 3er GT as a Concept CS shrunk for the Premium Entry segment (3er). There will not be a M5 GT.
You've already made Ms out of X5s and X6s that makes us question BMW's direction. We let that go because you are competing nicely with Cayennes. A M3 GT is enough of an abomination that I will have to consider MB or Audi.

Simply put, you cannot take an already hideous and heavy vehicle like the 5 GT "sleeker and lower". You will only end up with something slightly less hideous and heavy with an M badge.

This is great if you mean weight reduction. I'll remain skeptically optimistic. I know they are making great strides with the Megacity and VED though, so we shall see.

the C63 weighs about 150 pounds more than the M3 Sedan, so if I pull up next to a M3 with a fat chick in the passenger seat, we will have even weight

What's the weight target? Are you keeping an eye on Lotus' new product line up?

There will be no M5 GT, but as you've said before, there will be an M6 Gran Coupe.

So, tell please continue to remind your colleagues at BMW AG of the huge market potential for a 4 Series Gran Coupe and, more importantly, M4 Gran Coupe.

Diesel trucks have 500HP nowadays; are you worried about those beating an M3??? It's all about power to weight ratio man.

He was referring to a reduction in features to leave some to the CSL. I don't think that'd be the case, as the CSL would probably be deleting features to make it lighter... while charging more money for it, a la Porsche .
And I don't think the new car will weight any less, but as long as it doesn't weigh any more, it'd have a better power to weight ratio than the current one. But I wouldn't change my NA V8 for a turbo 6 even if it had 1000 HP, but that's just me ; this car has more than enough performance for me. Good day.

You do realize that Mercedes basically has an AMG version of every car they make, including the G wagon which is just stupid. I think they have an AMG version of the mini van R thing too. Audi is probably the only one that really limits what they put the S and RS badges on, but they are always underpowered and slow compared to the competition. My point is, don't hate a company because they make a car or two you don't like!

Scott please address the reports that BMW is taking even more anti-tuning measures in the future. Using ECU's that will be very very hard to crack.

While Benz intends to stick with a Bosch unit on their upcoming turbo engines, purposely giving their owners freedom to extract more horsepower. If they so choose.

The CSL should be 10% more powerful and a couple hundred lbs. lighter than the normal F32 M3, like the E46 before it. 495 hp and 3300-3400~ lbs. would be nice.

As a wagon lover, the idea of the M3er GT sounds great, but I'm confused as to how BMW thinks this will sell better than a conventional sedan...

Sounds crazy to me, but I'll wait until some models are released.

Scott, please make this clear to AG: BRING THE CSL TO THE UNITED STATES. You'd definitely have a hot seller in this market.

I really don't get the hatred towards larger M cars - lets be honest here, the M5 is a huge, heavy beast, but we all seem to love it.

If you need / want a bigger car, be it an X5, X6, 5 GT or upcoming 3GT and you don't have space or want to own and maintain another car - then why not have an M version?

That's the idea behind AMG - take what you've got and make it perform as well as it can within the boundaries it's shape and size allows.

If we followed through with the attitude towards M cars, then the only real M car would be the Z4M and Z3M before it - everything else is overweight and unnecessary....

They should make this a baby 911 Turbo.

500HP, 3450 lb. I'd be satisfied.
Remember, car companies can do more with ~3400lbs today, than they could with 3250lbs 10 years ago. (Although I fully realize weight is weight.. And cannot be fully masked.) But really, ~3400lb 4 seater with 500HP would be pretty damn good.

Gearing makes a big difference too.

Short gearing is what makes the GTR so fricken fast

who knows maybe they will make it with AWD too?

Dear BMW, please stop shorting the M3 on HP and TQ. We need the new M3 to be comparable, if not better, than the new CTS-V that is kicking the M3's ass in both performance and price. Thank you.

Highly doubt the next m3 will weigh in less than the current model.

Gaining weight and still defying the odds of physics seems to be the trend lately with these types of cars.

With the F32 M3 bongo-price increase that is coming, it won't matter if the sales of the M3 "GT" would end up being half of the current M3 Sedan sales...

True about CTS-V's hunting M3's. Next M3 needs to out perform it to retain it's crown. Also Scott please tell us the manual isn't going away. I'll drive my present M3 off a bridge as I shift into 6 if it is.

Bringing CSL to North America isnt a problem.......its the safety regulations that are, plus 50 different states with different safety standards.
