1st car (about 18'ish) - 1985 Grand Marquis (boat of a car, with a boatload of problems). It was gifted to me by my grandparents so no real complaints, I was fortunate to have it despite all the trouble it gave me. This car really motivated me to work hard so I wouldn't have to drive these pieces of crap for the rest of my life.

2nd car (about 21ish) - 1999 Maxima ES. Loved the car, that engine is one of the best in its time and is still a very good competitor for cars out there now. Modded the car slightly (tastefully) with a nice B&M SS, Y&B pipe and muffler, clears, etc. Still like that car and it was the first car I bought with my own money.

3rd car (about 26) - 2008 E92 335i. What a fricking awesome car! Again, paying for it myself, no mods, loving the car!

I do attribute my first car (the one gifted to me) as one of the 'driving' forces in my life to make me want to work hard to be able to afford subsequent nicer cars. So while I don't favour "mommy and daddy" giving nice cars to their kids, I think it can be a good thing if they give a junker to their kids to make them realize the value of hard work and how nice it is to be able to drive a BMW.
